Ah Sauerbraten, I've totally played that free game before and it was a heck of a FPS multiplayer blast. I never do maps though because I always seem to get kicked out of them even when I did no harm.

Yes, Sauerbraten's map editing does look a bit like Minecraft but it's much more advanced. A finer degree of flexibility can be done my creating smooth wall designs. But a Minecraft style mode for building sounds good for quick and easy designs. Great demonstration of the Sauerbraten mod.

Even though it's a lot like Minecraft it doesn't mean he/she is stupid enough to send it in as his own game, i mean there's a lot of modifications put in it and work put into it to make it a really good game, and anyways it was more then likely a project for fun, i do plenty of those, you do it to show your self your limitations and then you learn them.

So, basically, you've made the "in-game" portion of Sauerbraten's editor become the main portion of gameplay, and made it so a lot of editor features are gone?

In layman's terms, you've basically fucked Cube 2 and got rid of the FPS/RPG portion of the game, is all you did.

@sidneykylebowman1 Yes, I moved the editing into the gameplay. Many editor features are not accessible during gameplay but all can still be accessed by pressing E, just as it always has been. So I don't really see how I have "fucked" cube 2 or gotten rid of the FPS/RPG elements at all. What I have done is basically to create a new gameplay mode using existing functionality. If you don't like it you don't have to play it ;)

UPDATE: I have had to put this project on hold for a couple months while I finish up some other work. I'll be revisiting this soon though, I'll be creating a website where you can download the current version of it as soon as I get a packet length error out of the multiplayer server. By then hopefully I'll have gotten the weapons replaced with more appropriate looking tools ( Chainsaw your Lawn for FUN AND PROFIT! ). I'll also be releasing the source so that anyone else can contribute.

Any updates on this? I mainly just build in Sauerbraten and Minecraft, and would love to have a game with a Minecraft feel to it but without running as bad as it does. Minecraft seems to have a lot of framerate issues, and Sauerbraten (er, Cube 2?) causes me no issues whatsoever. I do, however, miss the mining aspect of Minecraft.

@dustingrey This project has been temporarily on hold since it is just a side project of mine I am doing for fun. It's mostly functional now, the only things left to do is swap in my models and art and debug a packet length error I introduced into the server for multiplayer. Also, this can currently be used to edit in public servers that normally disable editing so I need to remove the potential for it to be used for hacking. Hopefully will have some time in the next few months.
