Thanks for making these vids, a little slow on talking but that's alright lol, I have a dell gx 520 op'plex which is about the same as this on the vid, it has a 3.2 ghz pentium 4 single core processor/2 gigs of ram (upgrading to 4) and I'm running into the same problems when making vid's It works ok with adobe pre. pro cs4 video editing but with any length on the clips it will start to get choppy especially when scrubbing video (but doable)
64 bit systems i'm told take care of the ram short'g
This fella doesn't know what he is talking about. He says that the CPU "Guzzles" the RAM and that is why it only shows 2.4GHz!!!! CODSWALLOP!!! It is ONLY because the 32bit OS isn't capable of reading any higher than 3.25GB with the exception of some Windows 7 OS's which sometimes read 3.5GB. Supposedly there is a "Patch" that can enable a 32bit system to read and display the whole 4GB...which I have tried and didn't work.
So what is the motto? Don't believe everything you read or see!!!!
@TheNewbpowner123 The fan runs faster with the 3.8ghz and to help slow it down you will need the 4gigs of ram and a better video card to help take the back up off the CPU, if you don't have at least 4gigs in the PC you should take out the CPU till you do!
i have a dell desktop computer with intel pentium 4 2.80GHz and 512 mb of ram i wanna turn it into a gaming pc so could i use a 3.80GHz CPU and im gonna upgrade memory to 6gb and change the graphics card , wat cooling should i use?
@31pockets but i dont wanna play new games i just play halo yeah the 2003 halo 1 on pc so since im playing a old game could i get a new gfx card on my 2003 dell pc? and more ram?
@0soHaloPc OK, that would be fine but you need the 4gigs of ram to use the 3.8ghz CPU and video card is a PC express port and very simple to deal with, I have windows 7 in one of my 5150's now and it works pretty good.
The PC's I use for my youtube channel for editing are dell xps 430 quad cores to handle HD.
@31pockets um..how do i know which graphics card would work with my desktop computer, which 1 would fit and since it is an old dell pc what ram could i install
@0soHaloPc you will need one to fit the PC express port in the case, the one I used in this video was a little to small and outdated, I would try a 1gig card!
@bestvideouploader999 The dell 5150 has a single core motherboard and the fastest CPU that I'm aware of is the 3.8GHz in this video. you would need to change out the motherboard to run that and not sure what would fit the case?
@bestvideouploader999 ok, Any of the dual cores are already faster than the 3.8ghz single core, this video is only to help if you have a 5150 and want to speed it up for HD editing in 720p thanks.
Actually, the reason you only have 3.24 GB of RAM usable is because thats all 32-bit OS's support. If you were to upgrade to a 64-bit OS you could use all 4 GB of memory.
@baseballboy6594 I was not sure why that it only showed the 3.24 memory? I thought it was the CPU, so thank you for shearing that information for others, I have a dell XPS 430 now that is a 64bit operating system and does show all its memory even with a Q9650 CPU upgrade and the PC still runs smooth when editing HD videos.
Thanks so much 31Pockets, I never knew changing an CPU was that simple, I'm thinking of upgrading my cpu as well, my question is do you need to perform any bios adjustment or does it just run normal?
ok 31 pockets! i see what you were saying about the 3.8 cpu handling the videos...editing in movie maker does tax cpu to it`s limits...you were right !
maybe if you got a really high end video card next will get you smoother video ?
I knew I forgot something? The 5150 does have a BFG GeForce 9400 GT Nvidia mid grade graphics controller on broad and does help a small amount but, even this card states on the side of the box a duel core is required. In part # 5 Ill go over that. Thanks for the reminder 31pockets
thanks for sharing your videos , I like them !

@0soHaloPc the new games are to much for a PC that old and you would be better picking up a used quad core now for that use, I hope this helps.

I had 1.00GB RAM(1.66GHz) i upgrade it to 2.00GB RAM Today and still(1.66GHz)
Please someone help me!!
PrivatePanic 1 year ago
@PrivatePanic
1.66GHz will stay that way, but RAM increase will really speed up your computer. The clock speed doesn't change with RAM increase.
