Shania, Faith, Tim, Garth, they all pitched in to sell light, useless, no meaning crap to teeneyboppers who thought it was country music. All the rest of us have is YouTube and old cassettes. Where are the T. Graham Browns, John Connlee, Earl Thomas Conley, Trisha, and others like that from the 90's. I know Waylon, Johnny, Marty are long gone but why did we have to go to the hell we now live in with nothing on country radio. They all look and sound alike. No meaning at all.
Wasn't long after this guys like this couldn't get radio time because of wannabe country singers that got shoved at us. They continued to make some music like this but we didn't hear it on radio like we should have and then those that were staying true to country all but disappeared. Maybe we'll see singers like this come back into the spotlight like they belong. This is some good country music.
great song, guitar and voice......what ever happend to good guys practicng a great craft??? would be great to have the estableshment to get back to the good stuff.
The reference to Austin, Texas is obvious. The man in the moon is crying because country music was dying off when this song was recorded. In fact, this may be the last real country music record to come out of Nashville. Country music still flourished in Austin, so country music singers (Willie Nelson) flocked to Austin to continue their craft.
whats with all this actor and country thing that's going on, it sucks. Urbans music was really, really good, and it changed after he got involved with kiddman, would like to see collie resurrected.
I've always loved this song and video, but I can't figure out why the lyric is "Heading down to Austin" and not "Heading down to Tucson" after he "Walked her to the plane in Phoenix" and "Drove out to the desert". Austin is not exactly down from Phoenix, and it's obvious this video was shot in Arizona. Don't get me wrong, I love the capital of Texas, but It just doesn't seem to fit into this particular song very well.
Every time i listen to this song brings back so many memories. This is the last song i heard with my boyfriend before he passed away.. three years ago and it still gets to me.. ="(
I agree that even the man in the moon must be crying at how this old world is turning out. It's not the good old day anymore. I'll always love this song. 1992 memories...
One of the great songs from the real country music era. Makes me want to go back in time for a few reasons... The opening line shows you how simple things used to be and the freedoms we ve lost since then " I walked her to the plane in Phoenix"
We miss your pretty voice, honey. Country music needs remindin' what country music is supposed to sound lilke. I can't listen to what they play on the radio these days, I'd rather listen to metal.
@RoboCrook it was ruined before Taylor Swift even picked up a mic. Its only jimmy buffet wanna-bes singing southern themed soft rock. I can't stand country music anymore.
GREAT song. Along with McBride & The Ride's "Sacred Ground" and Ray Kennedy (Dr Hook)'s "What A Way To Go", '92 was a great year for country music. Why can't country music be more like this nowadays? Love the black T-bird, btw.
BIG fan of this song I am.. so much I recorded it and picked up the tempo a little. take a listen @ iTunes. Artist: Ace Haney "Even the man in the moon is cryin" purchase if you enjoy!!!
I took my sons to hear Mark in the early to mid 90's, when he put on a concert at our local fair. He stood and signed autographs for a very long time after his performance. What a great guy!
I'm the BIGGEST fan of Country Music. I LOVE all kinds, styles, and sounds of Country Music and yet EVEN I have to admit that 90's Country Music was the BEST!! Country Music is beginning to sound less and less like Country Music and more and more like CRAPPY Pop/ROCK!!

@ckofive I agree 100%. I found this video while looking for songs from when I was a kid. I had totally forgotten it. It's a shame they don't play stuff like this anymore.
@JumpinJackFlash21 Yeah it's a crying shame, this was the stuff I would hear on the radio as a kid, in my dad's truck... now they don't even bother playing it anymore. Instead they play all kinds of goofy stuff that they call country nowadays

Take note of what your hearing here: The arrangement of this song is a nothing short of a tutorial on how to arrange a song...the percussion is absolutely incredible, one of the best drumsets in the history of the business, and then the killer closing with the great keyboard work, with the influence of Bruce Hornsby and the Range....absolutely incredibly advanced country song for it's day...a joy to listen to.
