@itachi456789 The point of a ramp is so that your fingers dont "dig" into the strings as much, and you get a nice cleaner tone. So pretty much it prevents you from over powering your attack.
@itachi456789 Honestly, the ramp is so that you don't overshoot or undershoot and catch on a string. It makes your fingers land in the same spot every time.
Thank for putting the time into this video. I had made a couple ramps before but your video gave me some good ideas. It took me several days to get the radiusing and leveling right, but it finally came together and I'm really happy with the results. I've noticed I have to turn up the gain on my preamp to get the same volume as before. Another interesting benefit is the ramp seems to act as a slap eliminator! Cool. Thanks.

Thanks Mr Willis, all my basses have a ramp installed and now, can't play without it. I love the possibilities that it open to my playing.

Wouldn't it be easier if you took strings off?

@2dogslide Yes, but you need the height of the strings for the right distance.

@Deanthebassplayer1 I like my attack though :/.
I can see how it would be useful for lighter music though, thanks for the explanation.

@Deanthebassplayer1 I agree. But it also good for speed because without a ramp, it is easy to get your fingers get caught under the strings.

@Deanthebassplayer1
and why can this not be achieved with more precise plucking hand control/ technique?

@itachi456789 To obtain the optimal dynamic and tonal control of the bass strings!

@raymondl3 What do you mean by slap eliminator? Not being able to slap anymore?
