And Chris' main influences were Jan Hammer, Chic Correa, John Mc Laughlin.... so it stands to reason..not sure who Wayne Shorter is, but Chris also dug him, and he liked Cream, just like EVH... go figure
@mikem376 your stupid. it takes TRUE talent to do what chris poland does.sorry its not your shitty little metal songs that just have chug chug chug the whole time. chris has more talent in his left hand then most every guitarist in the world

I agree. Generally speaking, dual neck guitars and six string basses are overkill, but if the player is skilled enough to use them to their fullest advantage, all I see are exotic instruments. I mean, I've witnessed skilled players use them to their fullest advantage, and it was amazing. However, the bassist in this video clearly demonstrates why it's the amateur who makes the six string bass look like a malignant growth.
Please don't tell me that you are suggesting that Pag is an amateur bassist...That is just a ridiculous statement if you've listened to most of his basswork.
Chris is great. Very cool lines, kind of reminds me of Jan Hammer. One of the few "over the top" guitarists you can listen to and appreciate for anything other than technical profficiency.
@hanksteelbranch thats kind of funny cus chris said he listened to alot of stuff from jan hammer from his days in high school and tried to copy him , cool huh !
@bloodyfool23 in fifth grade he fell threw a plate glass window and fucked up his hand. that is also why he can't use his index finger like most players.
@satanblessmegadeth I haven't had anything happen to MY hand and I still have a hell of a time with my pinky....it just never seems to want to hold to anything.
@satanblessmegadeth You bet they are. When I try to fret a string with it, it winds bending out at an angle when I press down. I pretty much gave up using it, other than soloing when I hold a spot down with another finger and want to hit a few frets down (I forget what that is called....) without moving my entire hand.
@satanblessmegadeth Yep, that's it. Hammer-ons. I always forget, lol. I've been working to get it decent for almost 9 years and it basically does what it wants, so I just work around it.
I think 6 stringed bass's are ridiculous. Do you really need that many strings on a bass? Do you know how many notes can be created on a regular 4 string bass? More than enough....trust me. That six string is like those twin neck guitars......silly and unnecessary.
I agree. For convenience's sake, 5 strings are more than enough, as most drop tunings can be played with it and that's all one will need most of the time.
there are never enough strings, lol,of course plenty of notes can hit on a 4 string, but u cant achieve certain pitch depth. more strings opens you up to more versatility and im always open for more of anything, leave no note untouched nor pitch
I don't know, it seems like a gimmick to me. I am a traditionalist and think 4 stings is plenty. I really don't think you need 6 strings. Just my opinion.
@Flipper79able i play a 4 string mostly too, and so does a lot of masters of bass, like Steve Harris......
I also do agree that for a lot of bassists, the extra strings end up as window dressing. But when you are of the caliber of teh Myungs, and Entwistles and the like, they use every note imaginable, and there are limits to what 4 strings can do.
Don't hate cuz it's out of your style or skill preferrence. Good jams found on any number of strings.
@killerpeaches7 Okay, that's a good point. I am a traditionalist. Four strings have usually done it for rock.....and six strikes me.... as posing. Just because I feel this way doesn't make it right. It's my opinion.
@Flipper79able Oh you can't be serious..!!?? "These are the notes that we have been allocated as bass players....the rules prevent the use of any more...that would classed as...dare I say it..EXPRESSION!!!
Plenty for what??? To play the the exact octave below the root note of each chord??? What a fucking silly comment...if you are a bass player....give up now!!!
your a retard burton only used distortion and a wah as a compliment to his playing and that shit that your boy friend played right there wast all that special you dirty fag
that doesn't make any sense. If I had one-tenth the talent of Chris Poland I wouldn't quit music just for being kciked out of Megadeth. By the way, He was kicked out of Megadeth 22 years ago. It wouldn't take 22 years to get over it.
I think it is a cover (of whom I forget) but the original is pretty bluesy. Chris, Pag, and Kofi just added their godly jazz grace onto it to get what we are listening to now.

What does Burton have to do with that? Everyone knows Cliff Burton is not the most technical player in the world. That's not why people like him.
