  • gotta love diesels

  • That would be so sick if it blew smoke!

  • Damn.... I want that done to my duramax when I get one! I now respect the engine even more!! ;D

  • JP8 for the fuel?

  • wish i knew how manny rpm's its turning

  • Most definitely would have pissed my pants!

  • im really intrigued. :) i have to see i have recently dicovered diesel power. what boost are these turbos runnig at or is this secret. im glad theres no black smoke. doesn't need to be. just means the engine is running more efficently. take a look at the audi r15 or r18 tdi none of them smoke nore do they make any noise but fuck are they fast. good work to the people who built this you make my thumbs up :)

  • Unless I missed it, I didn't see a time posted. I'd love to know how quick it ran. Thanks!

  • it has such a big cam and high compression that it almost sounds gas. ive never seen a diesel dragster, but this is still cool

  • diesel sneezel better get a cheezel....

  • TURBO!

  • @TheSuperyall NO , BI TURBO, AND 8 CILINDER I SUPOSE.

  • No black smoke? I am dissapoint..

  • @kimgulle Because the pussies use nitrous.

  • @LarryNewlin No, it's because it's properly tuned. It doesn't even give off black smoke at startup! A really properly tuned diesel doesn't give off black smoke. But it still sort of signifies the diesel, and that's why i'm dissapoint. though it is really awesome that it runs so clean as it does. :)

  • @kimgulle No, you see those two 20lb bottles attached to the wing? Those aren't used when they drive it to the track.....

Banks doesn't know how to tune anything, they just pump it full of nitrous to make up for the lack of air. Thats why they can make so much "power" without compound turbos.

  • @Turbo617 Have you seen the startup video?

  • @kimgulle its not a diesel pulling comp... but yes i love black smoke too :)

  • @cichlidkeeper91 BLACK SMOKE IS SHIT ENGINES.FOR DUMMIES.

  • man the amount of Torque that would create would be orgasmic, please post a dyno run!

  • cool cool

  • How does a rev limiter work on a diesel? I know atleast one person is going to flame out on me for asking but, I'm seriously asking.

  • @zeppelin67637 it cuts fuel supply from the injectors

  • @joffeloff ooh ok thanks for the answer

  • NO BLACK SMOKE? DIESEL DRAGSTER? WHATT???

  • Put the engine on a world war 2 tank.

  • Comment removed

  • i know banks is trying to get a diesle to rev like a gas engine... sounded like that wapped out pretty high, what did u get the rpms to?

  • FINALLY YYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAA some one made a great drag audio with out all the music commentating and bull your are !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT THANK YOU

  • Was that a quarter mile track or a half mile track and what is the time?

  • @BansheeGuy95 1/8th

  • Very impressive. Could this engine run on CNG?

  • @rompn4x no, it would knock and require low compression pistons.

  • Sooooo nice to see a fast diesel WITHOUT the black smoke!

  • @1KUSTOMIZER i highly doubt its run on diesel fuel

  • I like how there's hardly any soot coming from these, more efficient than most pickups!

  • @bankspowerinsider I am about to offer you, and take my word for this, 5, yes, 5 crisp new dollar bills for this fine machine.. Offer accepted? You know what? I will go all the way up to $6.

  • I get that acceleration with my bicycle

  • So you are the guys who stole the wheels off my wheelchair...your using em as front tires.. Cool my wheels are famous!!!

  • That is the best sounding diesel i have ever heard. I mean given it's a dragster, but still.

  • I wish the duramax had the Cummins rattle, it would be the perfect engine!.

  • yes they are always that wobbly, the engine and diff are solid mounted to the rails frame work and there is no suspension other than the huge rear tyres

  • is it optic, or is a top feul dragster realy that wobly???

  • What was the ET and Trap Speed?

  • @Karpiel73 lol someone flagged this as spam... but, that's a good question and I'd like to know too. I know a diesel engine can run on many things, vegetable oil, kerosene, jet fuel, I'm sure there must be an ultra pure perfect diesel concoction for racing.. however diesel engines require such purity to begin with, pump fuel might already be super pure.

  • @FrenicX fyi the gas from the 60's was more pure than it is today. thats why older cars usually run 91 or higher, its because the gas is getting more and more additives than fuel. i know because i use pump gas on my 68

  • @dusto1002 Not to mention, that '68 was born before "unleaded" fuel which really helped those engines last, giving a real useful soft metal lubicant. there's no real replacement for leaded fuels.

  • @electricshockproof NOT NITROUS, N20 and diesel dont mix as well as propane and diesel work... Now I could be completely wrong and so could you, the only one the to clearify this is @bankspowerinsider......

  • @CadiMein420 nitrous is not a problem at all. just like on a gasoline engine it adds oxygen which lets you burn more fuel. the only issue is that unlike a gas engine you need to provide this extra fuel manually with adjusted injection or bigger injectors etc.

  • Why post without an ET.......its a dragster......ET is why you drag-race...

  • just curious as to what he was spooling the turbo with? Propane maybe?

  • how much the speed

  • Sensational, High Output Diesel without smoke.

Extreme nice job guyes. And the Sound, very good for an Diesel.

In Burnout Cam2 between the tires - is this two N2O-Bottles? Or is this for clearing fire?

Sorry for my bad english - i am a native german.

  • Nitrous? Where nothing said about it anywhere. Sounds to me that @47927411D , @smokingdodge93 and @powerwagon350 are afraid of the boost. FEAR THE BOOST BITCHES. Stop whining and start thinking on how to make HP like the Banks crew..

  • @CadiMein420 What do you hear at 0:21? I imagine the rest of us hear a nitrous purge. It's probably got something to do with the 2 large nitrous bottles above the engine in the rear view shot.

I'm not afraid of boost, but mixing it with nitrous nets some very impressive results.

  • what was the time and MPH on that run?

  • Anyone notice how the times werent displayed? I also wonder how many pounds of nitrous is going through the motor during a run? Why also is it that Banks cant build a PULLING truck? Hmmmm, you leave us with more questions rather than answers.....

  • about a 7:80 et?

  • I live their i was at 2010 nhrda and you guys had a bad ass truck btw how do you get these deisels soo loud?

  • @ToStompU High compression and aggressive cam profiles make most of the difference in engine sound, and the large parallel twin turbos don’t damp much exhaust noise on the way out.

  • @bankspowerinsider what kind of RPM's are you turning with that? Sounded pretty high for a diesel

  • @corvettels9 5800 rpm

  • @bankspowerinsider You can't tell this engine from normal ones by ear once the Rs get up. I like.

  • Why doesn't banks try to build a pulling truck that runs on fuel only, instead of constantly cramming a drag motor with nitrous? Build a "smoke free" 2.6 truck that can hang with the class around N. KY and Ohio, that would get tons more respect than cramming a diesel with N20 and burning pistons up every few runs.

  • i bet it cnt run crysis

  • @jackson1426 LOL I see what you did thereeee (;

  • dear Santa.....

  • 0:12 - 0:16 the tire contracting =p

    centrifugal force

  • @PowerWagon350 You're right--we suck ... we suck more air into an engine, tune it properly, then we set world records with it.

  • @bankspowerinsider HAHAH! SCHOOOOLED!

  • @PowerWagon350 The fuck do you drive thats faster than this?

  • Of all the crap commercials we are force feed each day on TV, why don't I see some like this? .

  • Такое уёбище, что смотреть противно...

  • Where is the E.T.??????

  • sounds way nicer than i thought it was going to

  • First off: That is BadAss that it is a diesel powered rail.

Secondly: I would be shitting my pants to be going that fast and looking at those skinny, tiny little tires up front and thinking "those 2 little rubber-bands are all I have to control where this missile I'm riding in is going!"

  • Holy Cr*p!! Nice!!

  • if the smoke ain't black, take it back.

  • hey look thos turbos looks like have an engine

  • doesnt scheid diesel's cummins drager run quicker and faster with SMOKE. i think you guys are spraying more than you say you are. and if your not and ya'lls engine run so smoke free how about some fuel only runs?

  • @360muddin1 cummins always add chips to their cars for smoke...its not normal...

  • @360muddin1 an V engine was designed for performance, a inline was designed for logjevity. "spelling"

  • @dewartt69 designed more for low end torque actually

  • Please somebody who is not an idiot explain to me how you get a diesel to two step? It's not like you can pull any ignition timing. Crazy.

  • Wow. I'm gobsmacked. What engine is that?

  • does not work well

  • Chuck Norris has the very same motor inr his shaver..

  • time?

  • how do you tune it to run without all the smoke.? do you use some fancy ass direct injection or what? are most diesel guys running way to rich? whats the trick? very cool btw ?

looks and sounds like its tuned right!

    kudos

  • @TheLucidsun most big tuned american diesel engines, especialy the black smokey ones, are running so rich that the fuel is coming straight out of the exhaust and not making power.... you dont see many tdi lemans cars driving round in plooms of black smoke,...

  • @antonyaiken Before CRD there wasn't much choice. Mechanical injection only had limited control of fuel in relation to boost. You had to waste fuel to make any power at all. Despite that diesels were still more fuel efficient than gasoline engines due to the energy density of the fuel and the torque derived from the long burn duration. The difference between this engine and those that Audi use is that this one would not be quite as clean if it weren't for the nitrous.

  • @antonyaiken what I had suspected.... so this engine in direct injected eh? cool

I cant imagine what durability would have to be built into the injectors having an electionically motivated pintle at such high fuel pressures i'd really like to soo one up close....

  • KICK ASS DIESEL POWER RIGHT THERE

  • I want my 12 valve to move & sound like that! The sound is incredible. It makes me want go to diesel drags! :D

  • So is this faster then the Banks/Pacemaker top fuel project from the 80's?

  • FUCK THAT SOUNDS AWESOME!

  • What was its ET?

  • bensa alkaakin olla veron takia liian kallista myös kilpakäyttöön!

  • @tk70100 This is a diesel not a gas engine. So far though we don't have that kind of problem here in the states.

  • @bankspowerinsider you guys are just crazy in a good way.

  • @bankspowerinsider yeah, I totally know what he said, too.

  • @bankspowerinsider will it run on bio diesel?

  • they should use a j-brake on that thing to slow it down. that would be an amazing sound!!

  • @RRRTaterSalad would be cool for wow factor at the shows, but it'd prolly blow the engine up or lock up the wheels i'd imagine the compression on that bad buy is stupid high. What a beast duramax though.

  • All cool but their is no way it sounds and better yet feels when you see a top fuel dragster sucking the air out of you and everyone in the stands as they warp on down the strip.

  • i cant believe that its a diesel! O.o

it surely doesnt sound like one.and where is all that black smoke??

  • @081588101 they burn all the fuel unlike the ricerdiesels that run pig rich for a smoke show.

  • @081588101 Yeah you see all the dumbass teenagers driving their daddys diesel doing this.

  • take a look at the elastics at 0:12 - 0:16

  • diesels actual make more power when running on the lean side cause lean make more heat more = faster better turbo spool but the aftermarket thinking is more heat more egt (exhaust gas temperature) the better the turbo spool but not always the case diesels when modified from stock are as finiky as as a gas turd it all comes down to tuning and and knowing what works and what doesnt programmers smoke cause stupid people thinks they should

  • love the luanch controll on the diesel!

  • what's the max rpm of that diesel engine?

  • I believe this car ran in the low 7's or mid

  • Then why do modern turbo diesel trucks still make smoke? Are they not designed to be lean burning? Especially at WOT.

  • @segarza I didn't mean lean burning at WOT, I meant lean burning under normal conditions. But at WOT I have never seen a diesel not make black smoke.

  • @segarza modern diesel trucks are built to haul and this diesel was built to go strait.

  • That sounds soo siiiccckk!

  • *looks at the screen speechless with jaw on the floor*

  • Anybody else notice there was no black smoke at WOT?

  • @segarza you got a lot to learn bud :)

  • @ericblazier19 Well, I'm not claiming to know everything about diesels...I just noticed that it made no smoke. So, can you explain it to me? or anyone that reads this? I really would like to know how it can burn so clean that it doesn't make black smoke. I thought that diesels by nature had to burn really rich and therefore produce the black smoke.

  • @segarza make a long story short no smoke=running rite and turbos clear up smoke! the cam and his heads etc have alot to do with it

  • @segarza Diesel's run no restriction in the air intake. Fuel is metered to make power in an open air state. When the fuel injected goes past the ratio it can clean burn in the air you get black smoke (unburnt fuel/carbon). If you feed in more air with turbo's you can burn more fuel before this happens. Same with nitrous so if you run lots of air from big turbos and a bit of nitrous with the correct fuel ratio you can have a near-clean burn even with loads of power. It's all about set up.

  • @hunghuge12 Thank you very much! That's the kind of answer I was looking for. I was assuming that diesels needed to run very rich at WOT to avoid a meltdown of valves and pistons. So besides adding more oxygen, the cold nitrous shot must also be helping to keep things cool enough to allow leaner burning ratios and thus less smoke at WOT? Nice. Thanks again for answering my question without sarcasm...

  • @segarza They don't smoke black because they have to. They smoke black because that's an easy way to get more power without going into really setting them up. Obviously timing has a part to play too but most plug and play remaps just turn up the injector duty or the fuel rail pressure (sometimes both). They make a lot of exhaust gas temp when they're smoking heavily too which will eventually get back to the engine and make less power/more smoke.

A good question deserves a good answer.

  • @hunghuge12. its not an eventual thing. it can happen to a truck that is blowin black for the first time. anything over 1300 degrees is asking for a problem. i have a friend that was showing off in his truck. first time he ever beat on it. his egts got just past 1400 and that was it. cyc 1and 6 both had holes in the piston and 3 and 7 were damn close. you could see the spot where it melted but it didnt quite blow through

  • i like the way it sounds like a gas.

  • i like the way it sounds like a gas. pretty slick

  • look how the tires distort at 14 secs, amazing

  • Those big ass turbos will suck up small children in, so please tether your children. :)

  • @EBbros It's unlikley that 3 pounds of nitrous could "supply every rice burner for a year". You also don't seem to be aware that nitrous isn't a fuel. No engine will run on nitrous alone. All the power an engine can make is contained in the fuel injected into it and nitrous can't magically make more.

  • @bankspowerinsider Actually most ricers use 3lbs of nitrous in a single pass, some even up around twice that.

  • @bankspowerinsider nos only cools down the intake charge so more fuel can be added... nos is cheap alternative, turbo's are the real deal

  • @barthoedemaker not only... it also contains a larger percentage of oxygen than ordinary air.

  • @ziiofswe yes i know it cools and adds oxygen.. n2o...

  • @barthoedemaker Just wanted to be clear... :)

  • @ziiofswe k :)

  • @bankspowerinsider Guys right when you dump Nos in you have to dump more fuel in too.

  • @bankspowerinsider fuel and air.

or the turbos would be useless here.

Like your boss like to say "an engine is an air pump"

  • 1300hp and 76587665344325438896 ft.lb. torque

  • @jdoggybizzle close probably!

  • Did they put spark plugs in a duramax lol?

  • @CTK339 haha XD

  • Best part is, when they switched to camera 3 they backed the dragster up to a trailer loaded with sleds and pulled it down the track... and this was still the outcome!

  • @Vandorskee That's a good one :-)

  • WOW!! THAT WAS AMAZING!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT A DIESEL DRAGSTER CAN LAUNCH AS FAST AS A TOP GAS DRAGSTER!! Well when you think about it, its kind of obvious since that they make so much tourqe at low rpms so it's perfect for quick launching!! I love it!! keep up the good work................if I may as, what engine and tranny combo does it have and how much lbs. of boost does it make?

    Pierre

  • Yeah, can someone explain how a diesel has launch control?

    o.0

  • @Boyneedsgames um i would imagine the same way a gas motor would. " Launch control" is nothing but an rpm regulator on first gear, in an auto you simply keep your foot on the brake and gas and let off the brake the car will do the rest, in a manuel your still responsible for the shifting

  • @Boyneedsgames It controls the amount of diesel injected into the engine. Do you really work in research and development for General Motors?

  • wat size turbos?? looks like 80 or 90MM

  • doesn't even sound like a diesel

  • Runnin!

  • when i`m watching your videos, i don`t see the black smoke

    how do you reduce it?

  • now if banks was great they would have a roots blower on it

  • 1300hp and 40mpg lol

  • @g60badass more like 40gpm xDD gallons per mile

  • That gave me a small miniature orgasm.

  • that M/F bring the buisness now! get it

  • holy hell

  • how did they prevent the massive cloud of soot that is all to common with high injection, performance diesels? Anyone know.

  • @torvadezzie Most likely proper tuning and setup. Top Fuel/Diesel cars have purpose-built cooling systems for the amount of heat they produce. Lower tier cars don't have that advantage, so to deal with the extra heat from the increased power, they dump in a ton of extra fuel to keep the engine cool. Since that extra fuel can't get burned (not enough oxygen), it comes out all sooty, which is what the big black cloud is. Here, there's no unburnt fuel, hence no cloud.

  • @CDMVette Never knew about the extra fuel to cool. Very informative.

    Thanks mate

  • @CDMVette More diesel = more heat.

Unlike a petrol/methanol burning car where more fuel cools the cylinders.

The fact that there is no smoke comes down to one thing.

Huge amounts of Nitrous Oxide injected into the manifolds, increase the oxygen content in the cylinders and all the fuel gets a chance to burn.

  • @torvadezzie Perfect tuning. I am assuming they are using nitrous to ensure a clean burn.

  • Man thats cool

  • The New Cummins motor is too problematic. Ford made the PS a Pain to service and its expensive. GM Wouldnt HAVE A DEISEL MOTOR WORTH A DAMN IF IT WASNT FOR ISUZU, So any Duramax Fans can thank Isuzu not GM. Not a Deisel fan. If you are not pulling, hauling, towing anything and not using the power for that reason, then dont buy the deisel...... its pointless and a complete and utter waste of money. This video is Impressive as hell though.

  • @88SuperTrooper I agree with you about the new Cummins. I am still driving my 96 Dodge with the 12 valve Cummins. I am at 500,000 and expecting to make it to a million miles. Now if I could just get all this Chrysler garbage to stop breaking :P
