First off, exceedingly good graphics. It's great to see how the Floating Island is destroyed in Act 3. And great music...wherever it came from. Sonic handles ALMOST how he should, he handles almost too smooth. His control and handling seems to have been taken from Sonic 1 Game Gear.
There are other minor problems, such as the special stage obviously needs work...
@kdreamland ...and things such as Tails' flying needs to be balanced. And the Sonic wall jump is a little bit iffy at times. And the Final Fall boss is...a little too easy, even for an introductory level. Even easier than Sonic 2's first boss, and that's saying something.
I love the super peel out in this game, and the spin dash is good, although infinite spin charges no longer seem to apply as smoothly. But HEY! They're really doing well, and I would love to see this in it's finished form!

There is a glitch in the game with the special zones, but that glitch also makes it possible to collect all of the chaos emeralds in the only zone in the game.
The first time you activate a special ring with any character, the game freezes. X out of the game, start over with the same character, use the same ring and you can access the next special stage from the ones you've collected.
Note: On sucessive rounds after you've collected the usual three emeralds, the ring in act1 will stop working.
The game isn't cancelled, it's been merged with Sonic Retro. They're releasing the game in two parts (6 zones each, like Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles), and recently they announced they might be porting it to the Wii.
The Dreamcast one is discontinued though, I think.
Who told you guys the project is dead? It's still on the work, but under the name Retro Sonic XG, as the result of the fusion of Retro Sonic and Sonic XG.
another cool looking but dead game project it's a shame that creators don't finish ideas like this (at least when they can't finish, release the Source Code for another fans to finish it)
Wow. I'm really impressed... and rather intrigued. This is really great stuff! The Sonic sprite looks slightly redone, the first levels and music are quite stellar, and overall it looks like a fun, old-school, and genuine Sonic game. I won't argue with this one. Great job.

Daniel's right, it's from a Album called Virtual Sonic. Look it up, take a lisson. I think it's one of the last tracks. the reason everyone says SRB2 is because most people had not heard that tune before SRB2, which uses it as the main theme. XP

If you've heard of the game Retro Sonic, it is being combined with Sonic XG (now called Retro Sonic XG). They're using the amazing Retro engine, so there won't be any slowdown like people experienced in this outdated demo. As far as how complete it is - the graphics are mostly finished, the base engine is done, but they need to start designing the levels.
Want to hear something cool about Sonic XG,In the special stage if u miss the 1st time in SS Act 1 by 1 ring and if u only get hit once the 2nd time then u will pass both acts just like that!

Understood. But the point was to pull more people into A awesome game... I guess my computer just needs more power. It really isint that good of A computer so it took on alot when I recorded this. The quality could have been better but because it was eating up some much memory the program reduced the quality so the computer wouldint crash. Go figure. :P

The SRB2 theme song is just a remix from an album called Virtual Sonic. XG used Virtual Sonic's original song.

I rated this a 5 but I should've rated it a 2. The video itself is AMAZING but the quality is utter crap. The game DOES NOT RUN THIS BADLY. I don't know why you recorded this video so poorly, for it is a horrible misrepresentation of an excellent work of art.

Understood. But the point was to pull more people into A awesome game... I guess my computer just needs more power. It really isint that good of A computer so it took on alot when I recorded this. The quality could have been better but because it was eating up some much memory the program reduced the quality so the computer wouldint crash. Go figure. :P
Anyone with A better computer want to crack at it than?

Whomever made this...is brilliant. This is like a child-hood DREAM (Sonic 4).
Such an awesome plot-twist too. Man, I need to play this!
But I am not without criticism (relax). The background effects of the floating island pieces scattering everywhere get very, very reppetitive. You need to work on that. ALso, the video gets very choppy and slow toward the end. But good job!

It most likely wouldn't be able to handle it, but the point of my post is that it gets the feel, of the old 2d sonic games down perfectly. :)
