5:02 "...sicheres und bequemes Fahren" - cool - und die Kinder nicht angeschnallt. Kunden mit gehobenen Ansprüchen hatten das seinerzeit offenbar nicht nötig. (5:02 kids without safety belts!)
I have an XM TD21 Break -98 and I havn't got any larger problems with it. It has acchived soon 350000km. It's much better to keep rust away than it's older sister CX. The electronics works without any larger problems. Some bulbs, rear electrovalve, new speheres, renovated info-display etc. The climate in west Sweden is far ideal for a car with rain, snow and salty roads in the winter. I love XM!
Your unfortunate as there are still loads of xms on the road inc mine a 92 xm sei and i have the soft spheres fitted and it has a majic carpet ride, love em.
Perhaps "orlaej" was referring to the embarrassing/hilarious marketing bullshit that this ad-for-sellers was spewing forth in German. Because that really made me lose my lunch...
The car however is wonderful! The berline version looks wonderful too, while the break looks rather horrible. That bland, boring, ugly rear could just as well belong to a frigging Audi, Opel or Ford.
Why did he have 5 of them? Always trouble? My dad had one in 1992 and after 120.000km, he only had trouble. Turbo broke, gears failed, the gas balls from the hydrosuspension leaked, very sad. The new ones seam to be better.
Citroen XM is the best car ever made.

Selling Citroens to the Germans? Was this revenge for revenge for Versailles?

Well, I have a 1993 XM 2.1TD. I have had the car for ten years now, and here is my opinion:
It is very comfortable to drive.
It has ample room for both people and luggage.
It is very economic to drive consider its size.
It is NOT reliable.
There have been many problems regarding suspension, driveshafts, electrics and the hydraulic system. Things seems to be marginally designed.
It is a dream when everything is working. It is a nightmare when something goes wrong (and it frequently does).
