As a Chief, rolling up to that type of situation made size up easy. No one in or on the building, make ready with the artillery and hit it when it flashes. Keep your firefighters safe and protect any exposures.
... maybe one/some of youzefireguys can go somewhere w/this- On paper she looks good:Built up off a Unimog(esque)6+WDultraheavy-duty chassis(must carry per/design 500 2 3,000+gal H2O) Standard driver/crew setup- w/ medium extension ladder/nozzle-hook- Wallpiercing hook/ram+retractable orbital/directional nozzle[4-6"feed]solidgroundCO2injectedw/H2O/orfoam/allfoam- Turret[4-6"feed]/monitor/alsoCO2-H2O/foam- 2"reelhosew/nozzleof choice- All designed 2 remove HEAT&OXYGEN
... man. when smoke behaves like that- it may as well be vaporized gasoline!
It IS ready 2 ignite!! Be that as it may, I've drawn-up ideas of a civic fire truck which is a houses' 1st arrival apparatus- designed much as an airports' truck- where it immediately upon arrival begins 2 take-down the fire- this tank/pumper/ mediumladder/wall piercing hook/nozzle and monitor/w/ground CO2 injector
/2"hose/reel: Key attack is 2 reduce heat&fire during crucial minutes hoses R being set-up+fastrescue.
haha yeah..... i know all about that shit lol.... but seeing as how my fd is fucking retarded and underqualified manpower wise.... thats how most of our fires look lol.... were getting better saved the last 3 houses lol
Where getting better in the last few years, smooth bore tips on 21/2's and low pressure high gpm nozzles on the 13/4. It all came to a ahead when the first in engine crew got driven out of a plumbing shop and didn't know why. It came down to too many BTUs and not enough GPMs. Be cautious of this kind of fire because its goin bust loose and be on your ass in no time. If they where on scene about ten minutes earlier, good truck work with charged lines waiting MIGHT have made some difference.
@mikeUSMC0311 i was on for 5 years i resigned last year because i had some personal issues with some of the guys in the house and on the dept. i'm hoping to get onto another dept sometime in the next 6 months before my certifications expire
Last time I saw a fire like this was in 1989 in my hometown and it was a whole plaza that went up and it took firefighters from like 6 other cities to put it out. I remember people just sat a good distance away with lawn chairs and just watched it burn down to the foundation. It was worse then this but this fire reminded me of that.
Made a Dollar General Store fire a few years ago this is haunting similar, it was an eerie full moon night and an immense amount of smoke was pushing out the front cockloft area, definitely an exterior defensive fire from the get go.
I would like to see the D/O side of that truck after sitting there and asorbing all that heat! Nice Video, you can tell from the very beganing the way the smoke is rolling is about flash point
0:25...Can you say Flash Over ;)

That was gonna be one nice carpark real quick, no point or need to risk guys safety by sending them inside, defensive firefighting all day long!
