  • it's easy once you understand the mechanics. You have to move your shoulders back as your boobs and upper back go forward and hold back your hips if you feel them moving as well

  • This stuff is hard, but not being used to these movements of course it would be. It's not something that can be learned or mastered right away. Take things one at time. Practice makes perfect. :)

  • I think making it a dayly routine is a big part of learning bellydance.

    I've danced before i could walk, but when i learned bellydance i started with the maya.

    Now, when i cook i do figure eight, maya, and shimmies.

    When i'm in school, i sitt down isolating my gut, and bellyroll, when i'm waiting for the buss i do chest lifts, etc etc etc..

    So just practice, but remember to warm up. You can't just throw your body in to this

  • This is damn hard!!!! I keep moving my hips back and forth. Fail!!!! Is there any other exercise to loosen my rib cage? I'm so stiff.

  • uh you should not be so stiff by now if your learning this. try doing figure 8's for a couple of weeks before you try this again. I don't know what the rest of you guys have started with but I think figure 8's are perfect for beginners.

  • this move really only looks impressive if you have breasts. us small chested girls look a little desperate. XD

  • Thats not nice or true, you can probably do it easier with a smaller chest.

  • Its the ribcage doing this move, so it has nothing to do with the breasts - i have students with big breasts who cannot do it, mainly because they have no movement in their ribcage and are tight in the shoulders and upper body. Hence men are able to do this move as well and make it look very impressive.

  • i wanna do a bellydance solo for a dance team try-out, and this really helps. our dance team needs versatillity and i this video is just perfect for teaching since i'm a beginner.

  • i like this vid and what she teaches is right. but shes not doing the forward motion..she doing the upward motion and thats a bit different. how do you drop something thats been pushed forward..you cant. you can only drop something thats been pushed upwards

  • i like these videos. they feel taboo since i havent been able to do them for so long. Cordnation is a big problem for me. But this lady is good for breaking it down for me.
