  • Comment removed

  • @mikerobins028 no, it's not me in the video...

  • It's so beautiful. When I watch this video, I cry. I can't help it, the song is so compelling when paired with the story.

  • absolutely magnificent. REAL musical talent and a brilliant video as well

  • Wow, awesome depiction of the greek tale. Story of the vid, "Once you have what you want, don't look back" :)

  • @Howdshedodat Exactly! That was Orpheus' downfall. But I feel bad for him nonetheless. Losing Eurydice all over again must have been heartbreaking for him.

  • Very good!

  • Simply stunning song and video..... Epitomizes the word "beautiful".

  • @djalyx Thank you!!

  • thank GOD i found this song lol I loved this song when I heard it back in 2006 i haven't listened to sleepthief in years and I've been dying to listen to them again but everytime I almost remembered the name of the group and the song i lost it ughhh but I found it again yes!!!

  • @LaMiaRinascita lol me too

  • This reminds me so much of one of my favorite Sun Salutations from Les Mills´Body Balance 44. One of the best musicians and one of the best pieces ever created. Wonderful.

  • Absolutely beautiful! Im in love with this!

  • One of the best things I've heard

  • Beautiful song:)

  • Whoa...wow, simply amazing. This is art :)

  • One of the most meaningful, creative and powerful videos that I have seen. Even if you don't know much about Greek mythology, you can sense the emotions of this timeless tale. Justin Elswick is beloved by his Muse.

  • you would think this would rule the world bro its srs biz fo sho

  • Gloriously addictive and simply glorious ! :-)

  • Beautiful!

  • la voz de la cantante es de verdad bella, nunca la habia escuchado y la primeravez que la escuche me gusto mucho,de verdfad muy buen video

  • i would have never found this song if not for pandora <3 amazing song.

  • The most beautiful interpretation. Absolutely my favorite song, Jodi is an amazing singer.

  • Jodi Quine Is the Songstress !

  • Stunning

  • One of my favorite myths and such a gorgeous song.

  • That's right its a story of hope and devotion and one of the most famous and beloved Greek myths. Good music.

  • Can anybody tell me the meaning of the video? What's with the people wrapped up in trees and the bark masks?

Phenomenal song by the way!!! Cannot stop listening to it, the combination of the music, voice, and lyrics are amazing :) Truly a masterpiece.

  • @lhulsbos The song is based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. This song is one of my most favourites from Sleepthief! =)

  • @lhulsbos to me it means death like the masks are part of the dead. when Orpheus took of Eurydice's mask she was again part of the living that is untill he looked back and she was taken back to hell. When he killed himself he became part of the dead thus wearing a bark mask as well. the people wrapped up in the trees were those who were dead and had no hope of escaping much like Eurydice and Orpheus in the end.

  • This music is great! I probably never would have seen it had I not stumbled across it on Pandora... and thanks to YouTube I can listen to it as often as I want.

  • @carlables Get the proper mp3 version and listen to it in much higher quality !

  • @NASCreations Oh I did! You didn't think i was going to stop with YouTube did you? Thanks though for the advice... sometimes it doesn't really pay to be a cheapskate (don't know if I spelled that right.

  • One of my new favorite songs. I've worn my mp3 player out just by listening so much. x] and i've only found this song a day ago. Love everything about Sleepthief!

  • I love Jody Quine's voice. It is haunting and emotional . Sensational.

  • 4:20-4:35 amazing!!!

  • @sorrento35 really thats the highlight of the song !

  • I love Sleepthief. Before I go to sleep at night, I queue it up in Winamp with Blue Stone, Conjure One and Delerium and fall asleep to it! Really helps clear my mind when I'm having a long day as well!

  • the girl in the video is hott!!!

  • beautiful. I love the ending.

  • Nice interpretation! Beautifully done. However, I always felt the song was following the older version of the story, where Orpheus and Eurydice escape together.

  • I've never heard that version of the story! Which is surprising because it's one of my favorites!

  • Love the music and the voice. Nice depiction of love and devotion even if it does end in death.

  • I adore Jody Quine...And Justin Elswick

  • Yeah, this is just like delerium - love all that! Very atmospheric . .

  • i love this song & video!!!!!!

    :'-D

  • What are the lyrics to this song please?

  • Its based on the Greek Tragedy of Eurydice and Orpheus...Google it. Hot hot hot, Justince Elswick is one hot singer,,and a Hot Mormon at that....sexy!

  • Song is featured in a Les Miles exercise routine "flow". It is now my favorite song - play it daily.

  • who cares

  • I remember seeing this a few years ago at a Theatre conference at BYU when I was in HS... I couldn't find it again until today when my friend told me to look up the song... and here it is. Still as wonderful as I remembered.

  • Could someone explain this video to me?

  • I do know the story already, there are just a few things in the video I don't understand. Like:

why Orpheus shows no emotion when he looks back and tries to keep Eurydice from going.

Are they "together" again after death, because it shows them both with those masks?

  • LMAO

  • =].... am I missing something?

  • Absolutely magic...

  • This song was so haunting and touching. I found it on Pandora Radio. Probably my favourite song now. :)

  • Mmmmm...so enchanting..:)

  • This is such a beautiful retelling...I had to cry when I say it.

  • WOW! That was done sooo well! For my speech class we have to re-tell a story-so I thought I would use this one but from Eurydice's point of view-so I was looking for some references and WOW I was so amazed when I found this-well done!

  • i'm embarrassed to say that i cried during this clip! lol

  • Not embarrassing at all...it is a real compliment :)

  • Im a guy and this brought tears to my eyes. Its really a beautiful video, emotionally powerful which is why I love new age music!

  • lol this was supposed to be a reply for MonteCristo84

  • el video es muy significativo y la musica genial

  • Beautiful song! Thanks for posting this :)

  • Beautiful beyond words. I'm completely smitten with this band.

  • surprised this song isn't mainstream. i discovered it on pandora

  • That's how I found it too. It's such a beautiful song!

  • what station did you have it set to to find this song? artist etc?

  • Gtrplyr1, The station was set to artist "Delerium"... Good station

  • @clark2311 That is exactly where I had heard this song from...Thank you Pandora!

  • @clark2311 Ditto! (I am not Josh, I am his wife) Love Sleepthief. Thank God for Pandora!

  • orpheus never grew up

  • OMG i love this song. its so beautiful and so sad. this was hte song that got me hooked on Sleepthief

  • Love the song and the interpretation of one of my favorite myths. :D

    Very well done.

  • i don't know about the myth or maby just can't remember it is a great vid and it would be nice to know what the myth is

i also bought the CD in store when i stumbeled on to it on sale great song

  • Well, I can't explain the myth well so I won't try. There was a comment on here by december15rose that explained the story well. It's also easy to look up on wikipedia or online. :) It's a very popular myth. It shouldn't be hard to find if you're interested.

This is a very wonderful song and I'm looking forward to buying the cd.

  • .. :) great . simply great . i m not into this kind of music but i just cant help myself.

  • Thanks youtube, I love the fact that I stumble over great music like this, I was sold on the cover for The Chauffer, I bought everything off of itunes, he is a great musician...

  • Why do you think so? The video is an original, organic retelling of the myth. Does it bother you that no "singer" is shone?

  • well said :)

  • Love it, love it, love it! Did I say that I absolutely love it?

  • This is such a sad story and its touching also. I love this song a whooole lot!! Oh and they also made alot of remixes to this song but you have to buy them I think...unless theres somewhere where you can get'em for free idk.

  • Nope. Support Sleepthief and buy them off iTunes - it's totally worth it. :)

  • Or eMusic, which has all of the Sleepthief discography. I bought the actual "The Dawnseeker" CD from a real store, but the "remix" singles from eMusic. They came already as MP3s, not the difficult, random iPod formats.

  • ...

  • The fuck???

  • I just found them a month ago - Life changer! They are mad awesome.

  • Sleepthief is a brilliant band. And its something that everyone should at least try and listen.

  • such a sad story.....

  • my favorite music video of all time, hands down. probably what inspired me to follow music.

  • A good friend of mine just introduced me to this song. It rocks!!!! For those who need to know the words....google it and you'll find it. I have been listening to this song all morning! It gives me the chills everytime I listen to it.

  • i noticed the moment that orpheus ties the hand of eurydice with that white material, in order to lead her away from Hades. He doesnt look at her face not even for a while!! Very carefully directed.

at the same time this magic voice says: "im given the chance to lead you home, no looking back, no way to know "

anyone who know the name of the actress who impersonates eurydice ?

  • its a peace of art, indeed !! i think that ive been addicted to this video clip.

magic music, magnificent voice and a great atmospheric video clip with gothic elements.

  • Incredible theyre american. This is the most euro-centric american made stuff. I love it. It definutely has enya influence which is a good thing, as her music is both haunting beutiful and powerfully dark at times. Great stuff, vid reminds me of movie 'Mirrormask'

  • Ya Allah, this is so devastatingly great.

  • Wow this music video makes you appreciate the song and the story of Eurydice that much more.

It's sad and freaky at the same time.

  • i get it now. when it says 'my heaven waits for you, my sweet' he's talking to her. and then she gets bitten. ow...

  • I thought it was "No heaven waits for you, My sweet" ..

  • who knows? i think it's "my heaven waits for you', because then it would match up the greek story. ^^

  • I thought about that - but then the lyrics would be "My heaven waits for you my sweet,

I'll follow your demise to hell and beyond" and it kinda seems like it would be a "No" more then a "My", you know? :3

  • It's "No heaven waits for you, my sweet."

  • i love this song!

  • What is this video suppose to be about, I love the song so much but I am confused as to what the story is.

  • As far as I understand, it's a reinterpretation of the Eurydice story from Greek legend. It's pretty easy to look up in the Wikipedia. ;D Of course, this is a pretty weird visual interpretation, but I imagine the Greeks would approve.

  • From reading the story it took me a while to kinda see how this could relate but it really does, just in a strange way. Thank you so much, I have wanted to know for a while now and thanks to you I do, Have a great day:)

  • Well that's... weird. It makes a bit more sense now that I know the story behind it. When I saw this (or more accurately, bits of it) in its nascent form at a BYU Final Cut a few years ago, it was just freaky weird. Now at least the weirdness has some story behind it, so it makes some sense. Those crazy Greeks.

    Nice music, though. ;D

  • Actually no? they were on their way out, besides it's just a mere interpration.

  • good video just bought album try balligomingo

  • I love this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of the few songs i have ever found that expressed pretty clearly a worded message.

  • Loved the video, I liked how they took that classic story and executed it with a different yet interesting approach. Although I'd prefer to see a more vivid environment (i.e. a greener forest), but that's just me.

    Sweet vocals.

  • it's dreary because they're in the world of the dead, i believe.

  • No, not dreary. Extremely sad. You have to feel the passion behind the song, find the myth behind the legend.

  • i've fallen in love with this song...

  • I first heard the song on Sleepthief's myspace, and I thought the name of the song was sort of familiar...

Then I was looking at some Greek Mythology stories and I saw the one about Orfius and Eurydice and it totally hit me.

Great song; Great video; Great story

    ♥♥♥

  • i suppsose learning about this orpheus and eurydice story might help me to actually understand just what is going on in this wonderful, though confusing, video?

  • Eurydice was killed by a snake bite on Orpheus' and her wedding day. He went to the underworld and charmed the god with his music, who released her as long as he didn't look back at her until they returned to life. Just before they reached life, Orpheus looked back and she was sucked back to death. He killed himself with despair after wandering the earth for years playing his music.

  • I've always known the story a little bit different, Orpheus gets killed by a hord of anti-pederasty females as far a I know, but guess that some scholars can't get in agreement in that matter.

  • orpheus cheated on eurydice on their weddign day she ran off and got bit he hades isnt moved by his song but persephone is and she convinces hades to let eurydice go after she gets suckedback he wanders the world drun kbefore getting ripped apart by the maenads (also known as bacchai) who are crazed follwers of dionysus

  • Ovid does not mention or hint at any infidelity, neither does this video.

  • Hmmm, from the stories I have read I have not come across Orpheus being unfaithful. Most accounts say that the god Aristaeus was going after Eurydice and as she was running she was bit by a snake and died. Orpheus then goes to the underworld to retrieve Eurydice, but fails when he breaks the agreement he made with Hades and Persephone (which was not to look at Eurydice until she came out from the underworld).

  • I agree with this completely. I took Greek mythology in high school and this is an accurate summary of the story. Such a sad sad tale of love.

  • Very beautiful, I'm...well, addictted to this :)

  • I like the way you put that, "rather than sleepthief it's dream-inducing"...very interesting, I lke it! The myth was very good also.

  • I have to watch this once a day to ebb on that shore of dreams. One of the most stirring songs/videos I've ever listened to in my life. The poetic imagery behind the words, the symbolism in the scenes is breathtaking.

    Rather than sleepthief, it's dream-inducing.

  • Wow!! What an amazingly beautiful song. So full of emotion!! Gives me chills!! Can anyone tell me where I can go to find all of the lyrics??

  • You can visit sleepthiefmusic dot com and search his forum for lyrics. There is a fan who reposted on a livejournal as well! Hope that helps! Oh - and the CD has lyrics printed inside the book too!

  • very nice indeed

  • Thanks to all the positive comments....help share Sleepthief with your friends - please post this video to your blog, myspace page, send a link to your friends!

  • this is the best music video ever made. hands down.

  • Artistically, this is one of the most beautiful, soul stirring videos I've seen in quite awhile. The imagery here is just amazing, and the song is so full of emotion.

  • Something..full of emotion. Great "spectacle" for the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. I am amazed and deeply shocked.

  • AWESOME!!!!WITHOUT WORDS

  • Beautiful, evocative song. Though it doesn't stick to the myth completely, it's still abso-bloody-lutely amazing.

  • You've done it again!Created a very touching video, with awesome vocals, and incedible music, and as another commentator said The Whole World should see this video.Great job!!You've definately got a fan.

  • a very talented musician, a really lovely voice and a really magical video. well done!

  • that was pretty good.. I wish they'd made the underworld be more obvious though. and he didn't kill himself in the actual story.. ^^'

  • Awesome Music from an awesome Album. Love it!

  • i just read about eurydice and orpheus what a sad story. makes me want to cry. the song is truly beautful as well as the story. great video one of my favorite songs ever. if you like Sleepthief check out Balligomingo my favorite song is titled Lost

  • As Justin knows, I think this is an excellent track and the video does it justice too. One of my tracks of 2006 !

  • wow thanks for making a video about me. j/k but that was so good. it was live a side of that story iv never seen before and ive read up on eurydice since that is my name. im so going to put this on my myspace

  • i also think everyone on the planet should get a chance to see this video.

  • please feel free to use the video link to repost the video so you can help share sleepthief with the world! thanks for the wonderful comments all of you!

  • i am absolutely speechless. i just want to say here, and i know it mayn't mean much to most, but i've been stuck in a pattern of such blank space, and feeling nothing for such a long time, and when i heard this song, and then saw the video -- i won't even give it words, because i am in love with it. it was a good thing i read up about Orpheus and his wife there. i want to thank you for posting this. i cried!

  • It's true, I saw this and it may sound stupid but it really did affect me. Not just the music but the combination with the video...

  • What a wonderful video!!! It brings chills to my spine (especially if you know the story behind the myth of Orfeas & Eurydiki)... well done oh and before i forget, Jody Quinn's vocals are exceptional!! I look forward to the next single and video.

  • Grate Music and Vidio

  • Great video. It's very creept and sad and yet still romantic. I thought it had a very Enigma-like air to it. It's also my favorite song on the album so it was nice to see the video.

    :)

  • Okay, I admit I had to watch it twice to finally figure out what was happening. But once I did, it was pretty cool! So basically, she died and he went to bring her back but he failed, so he joined her by killing himself. That's really true love! I really like how the masks were used to represent death. Very very good creative work!
