Do people actually believe that if aliens want to be known our government could hide such a secret? Their tech level is so far beyond ours, even if we knew where their home planet was we couldn't even threaten it back to slow them down if they were hostile. Think of surveillance cameras, they wouldn't have to enter our atmosphere to study us, just like our spy satellites can see a golf ball on the green they should be able to see us if they want too.

Agreed, the reality is if there are hostile aliens they would annihilate us with little resistance at best. We don't know where their home planet is and they came bomb us into submission beyond earth's orbit with asteroids, meteors, and comets by altering their trajectory or even putting themselves or some other opaque object between the earth and sun to cast a shadow and lower our planetary temp to dangerous levels.
