I recently bought dogtags, and when I slip the rubber silencers over the dogtags, the holes in the silencers that align to the holes in the dogtag actually becomes stretched out into an oval. I am noticing in a lot of videos and websites that this is not the case.

To answer again to all your questions:
1. The shiny and dull dog tags are both made of stainless steel material. The black one is powder coated stainless steel as well. There are also copper and brass dog tags which are not stainless steel and are subject to oxidation due to the nature of the material.
2. 2. The stainless steel dog tags reflect the light when photographed with flash. Although, a professional photographer should be able to avoid the reflection when taking product, macro or close up images.
To your third question, The most common authentic dog tag used by the US army nowadays is the dull one. The authenticity though does not come from the color of the dogtag. What makes it authentic is the shape of the tag (folded edge), the size and the stamp (embossed or debossed).

2 Questions, does the shiny dog tags are stainless too? is it true that shiny dog tags look like flashes on pictures?
