@RebelKickinAss Keep in mind the only reason he even did such was to undermine the Southern Economy, and to keep Europe from getting into the war on the side of the South because they won't then be able to say they publicly are fighting for slavery. The Slaves of the North were freed after the Gettysburg Address, but Lincoln did like Slavery, but was not a cruel person to the slaves.

There was certainly a hatred for slavery in the North, but Lincoln didn't go to war over it.Lincoln went to war cause he needed southern cotton and didn't want a potentially hostile nation just a border away....

The South did, over slavery, as they freely and proudly announced in their Cornerstone Speech and declarations of secession that you have NEVER EVEN READ. The South called slavery "THE immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution." Have you ever heard of the Kansas-Nebraska Act, Compromise of 1850, Dred Scott decision, or Uncle Tom's Cabin? What do you think those were about? Did you even graduate high school?

The Civil war was about both slavery and State Sovereignty. This is because many of the policies the Union wanted to force on the south were abolitionist. This would have effected the south's economy and gone against their interests as a sovereign state. It is unfair to say that the war was about war or the other when it was about both issues that are heavily interconnected.

@Not2Sane Actually, it was about slavery. The South proudly said so when they started it, in their Cornerstone Speech and Mississippi, Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina declarations of secession. You should read them. They cite "slave" and "slavery" 82 times and state "Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery---the greatest material interest of the world." That's why they continue to be supported by fat, uneducated racists who spray the N-word.

@RonPaulHatesBlacks Saying it was about slavery is a superficial analysis of the civil war. Slavery was a product of the southern economy because it increased their prosperity. This means that slavery is a result of their policies. Now, when the north tries to dictate to them changes which would impact their standard of living, they are going to retaliate. This is why slavery is a factor and not the cause of the war.

Africa sold their own people to the North and the North sold them to the South because they needed our farms and land when they heard we wanted to leave they freaked out and said no because you have slaves. Also the slaves came up because England was going to help the South and that made the North worried and so they knew that England was against slavery and that is why everyone thinks the civil war was about slavery not because the North needed our land because they only had factories .....
