@FireTiger941 you are right, most of horners work are inspired by his earlier works or other well known favs. here is a quote from the land of time review. titre=land_before_time "Unfortunately, the opening of film is very inspired by a theme of a work by Bartok, 'The Wooden Prince'). The first black to note is that the theme of migration is directly taken from the main theme of "The Journey of Natty Gann" (1985)"
Thank you for sending this clip The journey of Natty Gann is my second favo movie and I just love the music... to bad it's so hard to find it :( ... thanks for sharing xxx
It IS a bootleg. If it's on Amazon, some seller is in serious trouble. On the other hand, Varese Sarabande released a boxed set of rejected scores by Elmer Bernstein, and his rejected score to this film is on it.
It's included on a four CD boxed set titled "Elmer Bernstein: The Unused Scores" (limited edition of 2700) which also features the composer's rejected scores to "Gangs of New York" and "The Scarlet Letter" (1995). Considering that the final John Barry score was nominated a Razzie for Worst Score, it's possible had they gone with the Bernstein score, the movie might not have gotten a Razzie for Worst Score.
Actually, there were some bootlegs made, that came in cd cases like the image in this video. There weren't made with disney's permisson. And when buying one make sure its the James Horner version, and not the Elmer Bernstein Verison. Also make sure its a "real" 1986 bootleg and not a new cd-r computer verison.
Would love to hear more of the Horner score, particularly the end titles and the extended forest sequence. Drat, this score is not available for purchase.
Love this movie. They should show it more on television.

My God, the opening few seconds up to :30 sound almost exactly like "Land Before Time"! With no disrespect to Mr. Horner of course. Excellent score

No, it's not included on that 4CD set; that set includes Bernstein's rejected score and none of Horner's replacement score.

My message was intended for the page about the rejected Elmer Bernstein score; I got the two pages mixed up.

On the contrary, the score was released on CD. Look for the Natty Gann score by James Horner on Google. I found it almost immediately.

Those are bootlegs, are they not? They don't have any track names.
lotmbeasts 3 years ago
it can be found on sites such as Amazon if you look in the right places so it can't be bootleg if it's on a legitimate site like Amazon
