  • One of the most beautiful opening scene.

  • Great shot of Clint driving his Jaguar XK150 across the Bixby Creek Bridge, built in 1932.

  • how come this 40 year old film keeps being taken off youtube?

    grrrrrrrrrrrr

  • i was working in Carmel today. thought about this movie. Life is tuff

  • Happy birthday Mr. Clint Eastwood!

This movie did it for me, yes, this got me hooked...

so many marvelous roles, so much the hero, on screen & IRL.

One mighty fine actor, director, politician, oh yes a very fine man indeed!

  • I remember this film from my high school days in 1971. One of the absolute best, kept me interested from start to finish. Superb performances by Eastwood and Jessica Walter. Each time I see it I yearn for those carefree, less tense and politically correct days of the golden early 70s.

  • Damn i envied his character in this , House on the cliff overlooking the pacific, drivung an awesome car up the PCH at sunset to a laid back job where you toke on a doobie if you wanted to....BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • @bjroberts65 Agree with you there....and having Donna Mills as your girlfriend.

    Very lucky man indeed

  • Good Film

  • my friend and i, both of us single women, watched this movie together one evening, and every time jessica walter's character hacked at eastwood's clothing, caused a beet-faced screeching scene in a public place, threatened donna mills with a meat cleaver or otherwise made a complete ass out of herself, one of us would casually remark, "Oh, I've done THAT"or "Yup, did that, too" till it got silly!

  • The first and most original ' crazy stalker' movie!

  • i Watched this movie as a kid growing up in New Zealand, i so loved the scenery and decided to go there one day, well i did!.... this is one of the most beautiful places on the planet...❤❤❤ Carmel by the sea so pretty!

  • Great Movie

  • What the name of that song??

  • @Clintouminou17 Dirty Boogie

  • I'm answering my own question from a few days ago here: No, that was not Eastwood's actual home in the opening shot. I'm watching the DVD of the film right now and according to Clint's longtime producer-friend Robert Daley the house and the art gallery where the Donna Mills character worked belonged to a friend of Clint's.

  • This deck and etc in the opening shot looks an awful lot like Eastwood's actual house in Carmel (at this time anyway). Anyone know if that's true?

  • Completely awesome intro music.

  • wats this song called?

  • @happyheadpopper The song is called "Dirty Boogie" by Gator Creek. Someone was very nice enough to give me the information and I managed to find vinyl copy at a local vintage record store.

  • @61Slughi Wow, nice one. Cheers for that mate anyway.

  • @61Slughi I'd love to get this album, but I dont have a vinyl player, and i am in russia. How could I get it? I love this music.

  • @Phioletovii They sell the vinyl on e-bay all the time. This was way before CD's. I'm trying to borrow a record player from my friend to get a listen to it. I bought the vinyl 6 months ago and I still have not heard any of it yet! Then there is the problem of finding someone that can convert to mp3. A lot of work to get this song on an iPod.

  • you're more than welcome, glad I could help. = )

  • Dig that fuzzy geetar mon. Great suspense thriller, for which Jess Walter shoulda been Oscar nommed.

  • Has anybody figured out how to strip the audio from this trailer??? Please, please, please let me know

  • @World7Traveler search video mp3 net or youtube converter.

mate, copy and paste the youtube link. then click convert, ull figure it out.

  • one of cinemas great opening songs

  • billabong: I was just gonna say the same thing! In fact, if I hear this song on the radio one more time today, I'm gonna go nuts!! I can't get away from it...every station I tune to is still playing it non-stop. What a hit!

  • Jessica Walters was Evelyn.

  • @dahsuerk walter

  • The actress who stalked was a perfect casting decision! She looks the part, and almost beats out Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction!

  • she does beat out close.you put them both in a room together....my money is on jessica walter.

  • great movie

  • i like the song, can somebody tell me how i can find it?

  • There is no soundtrack to this movie. You'll have to figure out a way to pull it off the movie, or start digging around the internet for someone that has all ready converted it.

  • This has to be one of THE best movies ever made - I dont know how many times I have watched it

    Awesome acting by "Evelyn Draper"

  • in the eighties Clint was the mayor for Carmel

  • did you know the story of Play Misty for me is based on a true story, when Clint Eastwood was a young man there was a woman who stalked him, it's a great movie and one that he also directed as well as starred in what an amazing man

  • Comment removed

  • God, what I wouldn't give to have a woman like this chase after me!

  • What?! Where the Hell is the rest of the movie?!!

  • If you find it online somewhere could you let me know? Someone told me the woman in this movie is just like my mom and I want to see it so bad. IF I find it before you I will let you know.

  • Im amazed Monterrey still exists.......it gets wiped out by storms every year!!

  • aldo please shut thy mouth and stop your ridiculous rambling on's. Why don't you juggle my balls in your mouth ok?

  • This instrumental reminds me a of the song "Big Time Operator" by Keith Hampshire, that's another one that just makes you want to

    Dance

    Dance

    Dance

  • It's just groovy, funky, awesome, like glee inducing acoustic drugs for your ears

How could anyone not like this song?

  • I wish this song played everywhere, ALWAYS

  • There used to be "Play Misty Tours" but I dont think they are arranged any more

I dont know how many times I have watched this awesome movie - Clint Eastwood IS Dave Garver

  • Talbot---do you know the name of the Dee Barton song ??

  • fantastic tune like to know the name of it or if dee had any albums released with it.

  • my favorite film ever. i am a radio deejay and would like to know if there are many memories, recollections of the film in the carmel area. is the sardine bar and store where 'evelyn' made the key.any reunions, like the 30th planned?

  • waouh!!! great song!

  • Fantastic song!!!

  • what kind of car is that, looks like a jag to me

  • It's a Jaguar XK120, I think. The E-Type's predecessor. Doesn't rain in Carmel by the looks of it :-)

  • I remember watching this movie YEARS ago! It's crazy!!! It's awesome!!

  • Fatal Attraction took alot of ideas from this movie, theres so many similarities in the two.

  • tyvm for posting this sublime track

  • can u upload the full movie??

  • No, so sorry.

  • @vjmartinez88 Easily available on DVD for about INR 300/- Worth having in one's library- Eastwood is as Hitchcockian as they come- SSubsequently he has excelled and surpassed himself with such rare classics as Million Dollar Baby, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,Bloodwork, White Hunter Black Heart,Mystic River, Changeling, Gran Torino and now HEREAFTER- There's no limit to this ex Cowpoke's undoubted versatility and talent - Moral of the story- Don't look down condescendingly on COWBOYS

  • Music is Dee Barton original composition for the flick- I agree that it's cool as hell.

  • what is the music here?

  • Comment removed

  • Maybe the first movie about stalkers, about 30 years before they really became an issue. Good thing Eastwood never made a movie about the Apocalypse.

  • Can I appeal for the closing credits? That's original stuff with Errol Garner on the piano, I'd love to hear it :-)

  • clint eastwood was the coolest guy then, and is the coolest guy now :)

  • Any kid wanting to know the real definition of 'cool' just needs to take a look at this.

  • Anyone know the name of the bridge at 3:50? And about where it is? My next trip out to Cali I am going there, looks like an awesome road trip. Don't let the $4.50 per gallon gas stop you.....

  • That's Bixby Creek Bridge. It is south of Carmel, where the movie takes place. Highway 1 must be the one of the most beautiful places to drive on. Check out the private 17-Mile Drive as well if you are heading for Carmel.

  • Hi Foobound,

I'm curious to know if the area around Carmel (as featured in 'Play Misty For Me') has changed much over the decades since the movie. I imagine that Carmel itself has, but I may be wrong?

    Many thanks.

  • the town of Carmel is much busier now,but the surrounding area is pretty much the same.

  • IMHO, one of Clint's best flicks. I think it's scarier than "Fatal Attraction". I consider myself very fortunate to be living only a half hour away from the Monterey-Carmel area; it's gorgeous.

  • thats a life style. living alone with retro haircut shaped in smooth pents and jacket, one line sunglasses driving in a fancy car on the coast from home to work - caramel radio station, whilst listening to a goodie early funky song. I would have a crush on him as well ! :)

  • I think I have watched this video over 50 times; never tire of it

A couple of years ago there was a tour in the US called Play Misty for Me Tour visiting all the places in the film including the shop Evelyn got her key cut

  • what a COOL song

  • This is indeed one of my favorite movies of all time.....everything I love embodied in this. Clint Eastwood, groovy jazz, late 60's early 70's.....I never get tired of this flick. "Fatal Attraction" is good, but it's got nothing on this one.

  • Where is the part with Donna Mills. What a babe

  • Does anyone know what the name of that music or who composed that opening track in the opening credits for Play Misty For Me?

  • It says so in the credits, look for it.

  • Dee Barton (RIP) did the soundtrack for this movie. Some of the tracks are his original compositions (like the opening credits) and others are covers. Of course, "Misty" is by Erroll Garner, who re-recorded it for this movie at Clint's request. A remastered soundtrack needs to be released for this movie...good stuff. A haunting yet pleasing brew of pop, elevator jazz, rock, and bebop.

  • Does anyone know what song or any info on that opening track is?

  • brilliant movie want this one on dvd

  • remonds me of my ratbag ex.but still a great movie for sue

  • i was 12 when i saw this and the movie scared me as well.

  • One of my favourite films ever! The track rocks too.

  • This movie is the best ever !

  • this is the best driving ever seen !

  • that movie scared the crap out of me the first time i saw it lol

  • To this day I still think there is no one cooler than Clint Eastwood!

  • thats because your correct, there is no one more cool than clint, he is the embodyment of cool.
