  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • Dude this is awesome!! its like the 80's music video animation! I like it alot, now i want to use it, thanks for the tutorial!!!

  • its kinda sucks but thanks i got an idea seeing this video! thank you thank you!

  • If you guys still want to use this way of "rotoscoping" (cheating), there is a better way to do it. There is no need for you to manually do it frame by frame, there is a java script code, that automates the whole process. And a friend of mine wrote an additional file, so that when I execute that command, a pop-up window of the trace bitmap options appears, so that I can input the desired settings (because, only with the java script code, they are already pre-deifined by you in the code)...

  • @badwolverinex17 Where can i get my hands on said code?

  • You Win :)

  • see the video 'till the end, he actually repainted the whole image frame by frame filling it with colors, it's not truly rotoscope but it's not just a filter

  • @badwolverinex17 go make your own video. He said he made a mistake before. Don't be a jerk

  • @badwolverinex17 *raawwrrrr hiiisss hissssssssssssss* lol Abstract paintings can have shadows, depth of field and all other elements of art. I suggest you do a little research on "Principles and Elements of Art," these terms apply to ALL art, and abstract art is no exception.Though of course actual rotoscoping is just as you said. If you read the description box it tells that the video is not a real rotoscope =P

  • he doesn't win, he's being a jerk. Keep up with what you are doing LemonInYourEye! starting at your age, you could do way better than this punk.

  • @e3m4e3m4 - Your mom is a punk!

  • @badwolverinex17 You're a twat!

  • @badwolverinex17

I too get really upset when kids know how to do something interesting for their age, but it doesn't live up to the professional standards I expect from children, if not, youtube videos in general. You know, like the high-quality videos of rabbits grunting, or people falling off of treadmills. When will these damn kids learn their semantics and JavaScript code!

    Get a life.

  • Dude, you suck with your explanations. But it is obvious you're just a kid, and know nothing of how to approach the matter as a teacher. Example - instead of saying to us that you used the transform tool to scale the video to the canvas, you said "use this tool" and just showed it on the screen (and with the "awesome" resolution that your web cam (or whatever cam) shot the training video, and the youtube compression, no one can see what tool it actually is)...

  • awesome kudos. converting from video to gif is fucking genius. cheeeeeers!!

  • What type of file does it have to be? Cause i'm having trouble.

  • quicktime

  • Okay, thank you.

  • Well that's not really a rotoscoping, but still very cool technique. Big ups.

  • thats cool but its not true rotoscoping and anyways how do u get a film in flash (what file type does it haveto be?)

  • if you import a movie into photoshop then convert it as smart filter you can mass apply any filter to your movie and get the same effect. a hell of a lot quicker lol.

  • Its not so much a filter as it is converting each frame into a couple of editable shapes, so you can change colors and move stuff around and make interesting effects. I see your point, though.

  • yeah for reals much quicker. you get the same affect as well. : /

  • you can't get the same effect, it's a bit different. i was skeptical of your technique until the end video with the yellow hand, pretty cool imo. thanks man, peace

  • Smart kid. Maybe you'll have a future in the special effects buisness eh? lol

  • nice =)

  • Actually for things such as video editing they are an industry standard. Just because they arnt gaming computers doesnt make them useless.

  • Hey, kid, that's not even rotoscoping. Rotoscoping is not a style, it's a technique, find out more about it and why people are doing it, you'll make a good artist though.

  • I understand that. I'm just not sure what else I would title it so people would get what the video is about. If you have a good idea, let me know and I'd be more than happy to change it.

  • well done

you solved a problem i have when trying to isolate frames in a movie thanks

  • Nice work mate, good to see younger people being so creative! keep it up!

  • cool. what if you try tracing the hand before you convert it to bitmap? it might give more outline to it. it's a little tedious, but it yields good results.

  • More akin to color tracking than a true rotascope effect. Still a good effect, Thanks for sharing

  • Actually there's lots of software - even open source - out there that will produce results similar to rotoscope animation. Posterize filters fall short in this respect.

  • you are very young and very creative nice work!

  • thank you for not hating

  • :^) You are creative and free. Keep being that... and let NO-ONE stop you.

  • Change the title name to: FAIL. And be done with it sir. Good day.

  • holy calm down rotoscope police

  • This has nothing to do with rotoscoping. When rotoscoping YOU do the actual work!

  • alright. tell me what to change the title to and i'll change it.

  • Well what he did was right.....he put how to rotoscope....."THE EASY WAY" meaning....no work....hence the part EASY.

  • no problem

  • Thank you, good vid!!!

  • That's not rotoscope. It looks like a filter, or a something in an 80's music video. Rotoscoping was never meant to be something that you just click a few things and its done. It's an actual type of animation, that I consider to be an art form. you're right it does look cool, but your video title is false advertisement. If you aren't willing to work a little, then the actual rotoscope look cannot be successfully achieved. Even if you use photoshop, it still has to be traced frame by frame.

  • I saw some of your stuff. Its way better than mine. I'm just showing people I quick, fun effect they can do in flash. I don't mean to insult an art form or anything like that. I just didn't know what else I'd call it except a rotoscope.

  • yeah, it's not really rotoscope,

but it's good seeing people being creative =)

    cheerio

  • Awesome job. Easy to understand. Have you tried 'Snag it'? You could grab that one for another 30 day trial period. Probably could also delete the trail you already have from your computer and re install another trial like people seem to do with winzip *cough* Great job! If I was good at the whole teaching thing I would post a response vid. By converting the video to a gif. you could outline the people in it frame by frame like old school animators. :)

  • ya go with snagit :-)

  • Thanks! I love to learn new things on Flash :-)

  • cool! Post a Response!

  • that was actually a good tutorial. better than most most of the stuff on the tube. make more. :) :) (: (:

  • my demo of the screen capture thingy expired.
