Let's settle this. pwn was originally pronounced own. As stated, someone missed the o and typed pwn. But people still pronounced it as own, until a bunch of noobs who weren't in on the joke kept pronouncing it as "pown" because they didn't know any beter. Sadly, it caught on and now everyone says pown. Much to my chagrin, I might add.
