  • на каких условиях наши деды воевали, и за кого, и за чего? только за нас, только за наше будущее. а где сеычас СССР?

как жалко что новое поколенее мало знает (или вообще ни чего не знает) об етих героях.

  • thankyou for the subs. wish more old soviet world war 2 movies has subs, sure would like to see them and be able to hear them in english.

  • After watching this documentary I realized that the German Army only win in 1939 to 1941 due to the surprise elements. Once the Soviet regroup and prepared, the Germans stood no chance at all against the advancing Soviet juggernaut.

  • thank you very much for the subs, this series was awesome.

  • Sicily Landing and France Libaation :)) were much important pionts of War! so important that without those operations German forces could smash Red Communists !!!!! EVERYBODY know this!!!! Why dont you believe !!!!

  • @TelPrank The Western effort made almost no difference militarily. By the time the Western allies made their presence felt, the war's outcome had already been decided in the East. The Soviets saved the world from a Fascist Dark Age.

  • @mookins45 that was respond to a dumbas american who remembered how important the Sicily landing was :)) I know bout russian red-army. I am russian

  • @TelPrank Oh damn, I didn't get that you were snarking and responded to the wrong guy! Sorry about that!

  • @mookins45 What about the massive amount of aid the USA provided the Soviets with the lend-lease program? The USA shipped over $138 billion worth of goods to the Soviet Union. 18700 aircraft, one million miles of telephone wire, 14 million pairs of boots. 2000 train locomotives and 11,000 rail cars, 363,000 transport trucks. By1945 2/3 of Soviet transport trucks were supplied by USA. Do you think the Red Army would have been capable of these huge offensives without transport?

  • @mookins45 What about the massive and continuous strategic bombing of Germany by the US and Britain? This severely crippled German industry and forced the diversion of fighter aircraft away from the Eastern front. By 1945, 50% of all German fighter aircraft were dedicated to intercepting US/British bombers instead of protecting Stukas or shooting down Soviet Il-2's on the Eastern front. This left Red Army artillery completely free to mass in huge numbers.

  • @astrofly Of 53 panzer divisions, over 40 were employed exclusively on the Eastern front, or so I've read. Lend lease aircraft at no point comprised more than 5% of VVS inventory. In March '44, 40% of Luftwaffe losses were in the East- and the Red Airforce was always a lagging indicator of Soviet strength. It's a question of scale and timing- Hitler threw his weight into the East, 80% I've heard, and the war was decided there by the end of '43, before our great strength arrived.

  • Good series. Westerners need to know more about the Soviet effort in the War. Churchill himself admitted that the Russians "tore the guts out the German Army."

  • tottanful you are so wrong, and moonshot925 is 100% right. Battle of Kursk was already lost by all military standards when they started to move their damaged divisions to Sicily. I think you are maybe a Nazi sympathizer?

  • Thanks. More people in the western world need to learn about the Eastern Front, which were biggest battles in the history of human warfare.

  • at 2:00 it looks like they're pushing down a snow covered road? that certainly was operation bagration.

  • Thank you for the translation!

Growing up in the 1950's we were NEVER taught anything about the Russian German War. The scope and scale of this particular offensive is staggering and hard to imagine. Some will say that we gave the Russians the means to fight the Germans, trucks, spam etc. but they provided the manpower which is the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you again for the translation, it was a great documentary.

  • You have my gratitude for making the subtitles in english so that we can learn the other part of the truth. Being a history-monger myself i have learned that you should always examine things from both sides and this series of documentaries sure deserves a star for letting me do exactly that. Gratz to russian people and to the guy that translated this. Long live Greece :-)

  • Thank you for making this available with caption. The Russian people deserved a lot of credit for defeating the Nazis and saved the world from Nazism. They bore the brunt of the fighting on the Eastern Front. So much unsung heroism!!! No historian in the West ever acknowledged the debt the West owed to the Russians for enduring and fighting Hitler during that stretch of time which the US was gearing up for the war.

  • @vderpham American steel, wheat and beef kept russia alive. Also the bombing of germany by the US and Britian from 1942-1945 destroyed germanys industrial base and cut production down by 75%. Also the russians had a pact with hitler and supplied him with the raw materials needed to take france.

  • Thanks. I've been looking for a good documentary about Bagration. No one in the west will ever make one.

  • operation bagration is the greatest ussr achievement of red army. red version of blitzkreig and improved version barbarossa.!!!! imposing

  • Excellent.

  • wonderful video footage and animation. Thanks so much for the subtitles!

  • The war was determined on the Eastern front. It was all in gamble for the Germans. They lost the gamble, lost the war.If it wasn't for the Russians who knows maybe today we would all live in Germany.

  • Many many people think colapse of German Army happened at west, on Normandia beaches etc...The principal battles and aniquilation of Hitler's divisions occurrenced on URSS territory. Thank you.

  • @cafamu the allied forces in the west destroyed 5-10 % of german forces. americans had negligible contribution to the war in europe, the thing is every nation writes its own history. source : norman daves "europe fights"

  • @MrSurelysure

    Negligible contribution?

Are you aware that on top of the Anglo-American forces deployed in N. Africa, Southern and Western Europe (obviously not at the gigantic scale of the USSR but strategic important nonetheless) the British Bomber Command and the American 8th/15th Air Force took the brunt of the strategic bombing campaign over Nazi-occupied Europe and Nazi Germany itself which crippled to a great degree the ability of the German forces to wage war.

  • @Eurofighter19 there is no room in here for the discussion i repeat negligible. My recommendation is Davis Nornan Europe Fights. British historian. read it and then get baack to me. I hate communism am very untrustful to russian but the truth is they won the war. more pecisely ukrainians, belarussians and russians.your landing in normandy engaged no more germans than warsaw uprising. every nation has a tendency to hail its achievements

  • Comment removed

  • @MrSurelysure

I think there's plenty of room for discussion here and I repeat my self once again, American intervention in ETO was not negligible at all.

While I have not read Mr Nornan's book, I have read read plenty of books authored by impartial and unbiased writers many of whom are not Americans which highlight the extent of the contribution of each Allied belligerent nation during the war.

Every nation has tendencies to hail its achievements indeed, including the Former Soviet Union.

  • @Eurofighter19 never thought that the former soviet union participated in ww2. There is no such country =/

even here you put your little bit of salt on the russians

  • @Eurofighter19 I do not remeber the numbers and do not feel like rummaging through davis's book but africa corps were of the strength of a couple of divisions bearly a skirmish in eastern front. you say strategic bombing crippled germans to a great extent. what do you mean by great.I'd say to small ,killing mainly civilians. I recommend norman davis because this man is mainly preoccupied with numbers, assessment, and time axies.

  • When I say "a great degree" I'm talking about the Luftwaffe's Reich Luftlotte which, regardless of steadily growing to cope the growing numbers of British BC and American 8th AF, was effectively annihilated and ceased to exist by war's end being unable to resist the great air battles of attrition.

When Soviet troops entered German territory, they found nation with fuel-starving armed forces and its transportation lines effectively destroyed as well.

A direct effect of the bomber war.

  • @Eurofighter19 i visited your profile. its good to have patriotic feelings but anyone can deduce from things you watch and general look of it that you are much closer to fanatic than to sb who is impartial. you say you read a lot, i say you need to read more. order that book over the internet and read, what you've got to loose. ps if you want to feel proud talk about war on pacific. all the best for you bro.

  • You really have some nerve to be talking in the stupid manner you are.

What can you possibly know about my life just by taking a ten second look at my profile?

Have we lived together and therefore you know exactly what is my way of thinking and tendencies while I'm not even aware of it?

Have you been spying on me, taking the account of the time I spend reading and the kind of books I read in order to conclude that I need more reading?

  • Do you know what my thoughts are in order to conclude that I'm a "biased, partial fanatic"?

Why don't you take a look at the subscriptions and videos uploaded by them I have, (including the uploader of this video) beyond the painting of a group of P-51s escorting some B-17s that seemingly has made your case of how "blindly biased I am"

The Pacific War including the CBI theater of operations? why bother, if you are well aware that it was war won by the British and Americans themselves.

  • @Eurofighter19 ps. i'm polish so if you knew something about europe i'm very far from being sypathetic of russians.

  • @MrSurelysure

ps. I know you are Polish, I'm not your bro and I believe I know something about Europe and its modern history, otherwise I would not be here watching this documentary in Russian in order to learn something new about the war on the Eastern Front.

  • @MrSurelysure At the battle of kursk in 1943 only 38% of the luftwaffe was on the whole eastern front. From 1943-1945 most of it was being held it the west by the west allies. The bombing of germany was the most important event in Europe. 70% of german civilians in 1945 said that was the reason they lost the war. Also the western front of 1944-45 sucked up about 40% of german infantry and about half of german armor. You should read some other books instead of the soviet propoganda that you like.

  • @moonshot925 I do not read soviet propaganda. Boy, I am very far from being fond of russians and the authors I read are definitely not russian. Norman Davies is a British historian who specializes in Polish and Russian history. The mistake in your thinking is citing chosen fact. You say 40% of German Air Forces. What was left of lufftwaffe in 1945. Ask yourself how much land did allies gained comared to russians. two weeks of bagration and the whole belorussia is free. Have nice day.

  • Comment removed

  • @moonshot925 LOL

  • @moonshot925 "What German civilians said"? LOL That's one of the funniest I've read this week!

  • @moonshot925 : I've been teaching European History for 30 years, and you are wrong on all counts. The Western Front never required more than 15% of German military expenditures, including the Battle of the Bulge in Jan.1945. Those 70% of Germans were civilians affected by Allied bombs, so they would of course consider that as the reason for losing the war (they didn't partake in the battles which determined the war). The Kursk offensive fought with Germany's best weapons& SS Divn's. Still lost!

  • @toffanful You are wrong. 20 divisions were taken from Kursk and sent to Sicily in July 43. That forced the German offensive to stop. The German air force lost over 8000 aircraft in combat on Western front from Jan-June 1944 while only lossing 3000 on the Eastern front in that time period. Over 40% of german forces were opn the Western Front including Italy in late 1944. The bombing offensive on Germany won the war. This is a fact.

  • @moonshot925

Hmmm not? Its a fact that the battle was practically over when they sent those forces, all of major Kursk battles such as near Prokhorovka happened before that. When they sent those forces to Italy, their offensive was already stopped, and only thing that moving those damaged divisions gave to red army was practically rolling over army group south and center in their counteroffensive. "The bombing offensive on Germany won the war." - No comment, the bulshiting is strong with you.

  • @moonshot925

Yeah Sicily landing...really a turning point of the war....almost as important as the conquest of Denmark yawn.

  • @toffanful YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!! You rock dude!

  • @Eurofighter19 and the bomber offensive forced the withdrawal of the bulk of Germany's Air force and a lot of its artillery to the West. It gave the Soviets command of the air both tactically and for intelligence gathering.

  • @andrelebaron

That's quite true as well, the massive strategic air battles against the Luftwaffe and Nazi Germany, although failed in finishing the war on its own as some strategists suggested, did indeed help in speeding the final collapse of the massive German war machine.

  • thank you for the great documents on the Patriotic War. Can you put here also the episodes of ukraine and capture of Berlin?
