A most comprehensive specification but i think the choice of case is a disappointment.

The Antec 1200 is a fine case but is overshadowed by better cases including the Coolermaster Cosmos series which afford more room internally than the Antec.

Personal opinion i know but you have an awful lot of gear to install and installation wise the Coolermasters have the edge over the Antec

Im running Quad 8800Gtx with the Quad core Extream and the extra space afforded by the Cosmos was a blessing

Hey you mentioned you're a 3D designer and you will be using this beast for some intense rendering. Well I think RAID 5 is not what you want from a performance standpoint. You would probably be best served by going with RAID 0+1. Redundancy would not be good as RAID 5 but you would have it none-the-less. I would also add an external hdd to this project (maybe even a NAS box) for backup purposes. That way you can keep the focus on speed and performance.

Crysis are full HD res 1920x 1200 with maxed out graphics settings requires at lease a 3000 bucks PC to run average frame rates of 40fps thats with 2x sli you 1300 bucks PC is not a gamming rig. A gamming rig is a PC that can run an game MAXed out at full HD resolution 1920x 1200 and get between 40 and 60 FPS on Crysis.

You can't have a multi-monitor setup with SLI o_O unless you buy a splitter for the DVI output.

With 2 External drives and 6 internal HDDs there will be no room for the fan controller o_O

Also even a 1300 Watt PSU will have to work to power that rig.

And why buy 7 fans...theres only 5 slots on the case.

There are 12 bays...hence the name twelve hundred...so by using the "wind tunnel" thing in 3 of the bays, and 6 internal and 2 external, that leaves 1 more bay for me to use

1300W is way more than enough (I think it's around 950W needed overall if that)

And there are 7 slots (3 in front, 2 in back, 1 on side panel and 1 inside for wind tunnel)

Well, it is true that the 4870x2 is actually a better card than the GTX 280 at the moment, because it has 2GB of GDDR5 and supports DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1

If you havent bought anything at the moment, then i suggest you wait.

Oh and also I would suggest Liquid CPU and Gpu cooling, so you can get that processor up to 4.6GHz or more (though you may be able to with that nice cpu fan) Maybe you should look into a Network card like the Killer NIC, if you have an available PCI slot. However it won't matter much with your fast processor, but if you have an extra slot and extra cash...

Some very nice choices all around. The only thing I'd suggest is it seems like you have a high budget so why not go with water cooling? That's give you an opportunity to overclock that extreme processor to even more extreme. I also am not a fan of Vista, but I understand that Vista is required for Tri-SLI or Tri-Crossfire. Instead of buying 3x 30' monitors I would personally get a 52" tv with a single HD4870 graphics card. Why the hell do you need 8gb of ram? 4 is fine unless your doing some serous rending or CAD work. Quadcore is pretty much useless right now as most processes only use two threads so a E8400 would be nice.

hmmm, most parts are top-end. the raid cluster 2 can be improved by getting a 1TB 7200 32MB cache instead of the 16MB cache.

you should try watercooling and get the water-cooled versions of the gtx 280s. one more thing: get a different 790i mobo like the Evga 790i UltraFTW or the Asus Striker II Extreme. water cooling and oc will greatly improve the set-up. if you have money to spare, go for 2 high-end SSD in Raid 0 for you OS! good job anyways!
