  • Great job,girls!

  • arnt ye just great, love the top, il not take fashion tips from you again greta. ha ha ha

  • Nice work.

Spot the tourist who can't play bodhran (but feels the need because "it's sooo tribal and sooo me!").

  • brilliant girls...

  • I think the playing is great but all these 'spectators' look so lifeless and dead, especially in the inside shows they do- I wanna see people jumping off the walls just how they should be to this style of music :D

  • Wow what fun! And so young to play that well. Good deal.

  • Does anyone KNOW who that irritating woman with the bodhran is ?

Rumour has it she was from California ........

The dress code does indicate such may be true.

  • Fab playing - and better-looking girls than the ones I've ever encountered at sessions!

  • Yay!!! She finally smiles at 2:10 !!

  • Whenever I feel my shittiest Irish music always cheers me up.

  • Who is that ejit in the background knockin the life out of that Bódhran??? and the spoons are a bit on the "shut the *X$@Z;+x&#* up" side lmao, deadly tunes all the same

  • Gretta on concertina and Catherine on flute - and Anne-Marie Fitzgerald on fiddle .... and some annoying guy on spoons!

  • @ma7hatter Spoons are only good for one thing-supping soup. And they are a major pain in the a*** especially when they are off the rythm. Unfortunatelt in nearly all cases they join in sessions without asking

  • arghhh what is that infuriating clicking noise???? other than that this is lovely :)

  • @SuperSeaCucumber spoons

  • Great playing.

  • any one know the name of first tune ??

  • i'm coming!

  • @thesoloist1000 Look at their legs bouncing - they don't hate playing, they're just undemonstrative about it (very common among Irish musicians).

  • That 3rd tune is a bomb!!

  • Anyone know the 3rd tune?

  • They are extremely talented, don't get me wrong; but they all seem to hate playing:/

  • That was lovely.

  • they makes me happy :D

  • hi sorry i am late with reply ,to whos u? i love trad music and play few instruments

  • Lovely concertina playin and i know cos i play wit de best concertina player in ireland. No not Noel Hill

  • that spoons player is a disaster.... bodhran player isnt much better.... good playing tho :) not sure wat 2nd tune is but 3rd tune is the reconciliation..... 1 of my favourites but very hard to play on anythin but the banjo

  • Awh shucks!! :)

  • She definately is well fit.

  • My kingdom for the man who kills the spoons 'player'. Great playing by the girls, especially considering these morons banging things behind them.

  • wow, why cant we have such pretty young ladies at our sessions here?

  • Anyone know the second tune?

  • it's called Rip the Calico

  • that second tune is the mountains of pomeroy

  • if i were to choose out of those 3 instruments to play, i would choose the easiest, but none of them look easy at all....

  • id say the flute is the easiest to play outta the three

  • I knew ya would lol, did u see her she just totally lost the plot, I know the woman of old and she is a serious pain in the ass just like all her feckin folky pals! I mean what sort of musician would come to a trad festival and sit down in the middle of a trad sesh and start playing the wild fuckin rover??? a fleadh is for and about trad music not folk, two very different things its like saying jazz and hip hop are the same and having those two differnt groups turn up at the same festival lol

  • @markbodhran

Too right! And a few more people need to hear it.

  • Shoot the bodhran player!! i cannot believe this person came up and started to play the bodhran like that behind those girls, why do some bodhran players think they have to beat the living jaysus out of the poor instrument, its a bodhran not a lambeg so play with the musicians and not over them, p.s I am a bodhran player so!! my name is mark kavanagh!!!!!!!

  • Ahh now - thats a bit strong there wasn't much bodhran in this at all

  • Dear munchhurdle, my point is not about there being a bodhran player in this recording! its about the way she came up and just started to hammer the shyte out of the poor drum!!! if you look at the video you will actually see the fiddle player turn round in amazement and disbelief, I am a bodhran player myself and I am very well known on the trad circuit!! If you ever want me to name names then I will by all means do so, My s friends and I were having a sesh when she fecked it up with her pals..

  • Now I see what your talking about - I think she was moved on after a few seconds lol

  • She has been pushed away y one of the listeners and she came back like a big fly ...

However, the man on the spoons is not bad (but too loud, as usual ...)

  • These young ladies are simply excellent.

  • You're absolutely right.

It's a pleasure to hear them playing !

  • somebody runs up behind them and starts playing the bodhrán! i didn't notice that the first time I watched this.

  • This is Fantastic music. but then coming from Co Kerry I wouldn't expect anything less. I hope their is plenty more of this music to come. Thank you girls you do us proud.

  • Where were the spoons? I MUST FIND THE SPOONS!

  • Well, spoons are good to eat soup. That's all...

  • he's at 3:01 in the upper right....i was looking for him the whole time too =)

  • Ha! Found.... not so cocky now are we mister spooner.

  • go on star

  • Fine so I'll take ur word for it...?!? :S

  • That middle tune is "Rip the Calico", yeah?

  • Agreed Ptarmi. Spoons are great for drinking soup with but are shit for music. Lovely playing girls, sympathies about the spoons 'player' and bodhran murderer.

  • bodhran murderer ha ha well said pal, I am glad I am not the only one who thought that, I play bodhran and it pains me to see so called bodhran players play it like its an orangemans lambeg, I know that woman of old and she is a real pain the the feckin rear.

  • Where is the 'Spoons Murderer' ......... & his Bicycle, when you need him? :-(

  • great playin greta i new it was u :)

  • Hi!! Who's u?

  • Delightful playing, really sweet style on the wee box, pure heaven, think the bodhran player should have been shot!! that woman is a pain in the arse!!

  • @markbodhran As far as i am concerned the ycoild've lined up the spoon marauder and bodhrán ditto and plugged them both in one go..

  • @ Gretaconcertina :

According to "Google translation", your language is 'Italian'. Well, I'm not sure... Actually Google was unable to translate your message... Me either ...

  • The language I am speaking is English!! did u want to ask me something.

  • No. as mentioned, I was trying to talk to "Gretaconcertina"

  • OOO I see lol< The girl's nama is gretta curtin from brosna in county Kerry, good luck now and all the best

  • OK. I finally figured out that

    "Dats me wit da concertina!"

    meant

    "That's me with the concertina"

    Some slang, I presume ...

  • no thats the way people from kerry talk lol its like me saying dats me with the bodhran or whatever like!!

  • Girls an absolute treat, well played and thanks for posting, from Ard Mhacha.

  • The spoon player is fairly harmless!

  • Just noticed the second tune is Rip the Calico, I've found quite a liking for that tune recently

  • Lovely music.I am so proud to be irish!!Thank you for the posting.

  • Love to see young players like this with so much talent. When I was growing up in County Clare, traditional music was not as popular as it is now. Thanks to people long dead like Willie Clancy Miltown Malbay, Mrs Crotty Cooraclare/Kilrush and Patrick Kelly of Cree the music lives on and goes from strength to strength. I get great pleasure from listening to beautiful music like this.

  • O cuimhnichibh nach trèig sibh i,

    Gach Gàidheal tha 'n-diugh beò,

Cha dèan i chaoidh 'ur sàrachadh,

Ach blàths tha innt' gu leòr,

Nuair bhios sibh anns na fàsaichean,

    Fo àmhghar neo fo leòn,

Bidh rann de dh'òran Gàidhlig dhuibh

    Nas fheàrr na botal mòr

  • long live The Irish Tradition!

  • Great music + Great Lift

    jim,,,

  • Man, I wish there was more stuff like here in the US, especially here in Texas, people starting sessions in random places... Here, we have to make sure it won't disturb the peace of the trad-haters... Wonderful playing! I must say, it's rare to see girls play concertina, but very good playing.

  • I'm a proud native Texan! Regarding tradition haters, U can find them anywhere, where there is human beings, not just Texas!!! At one time the British tried to eradicate the Irish culture, including music & dancing.

Marvelous performance ladies!!! U can see these musicians don't spend most of their time watching T.V., playing video games, & other general time wasters.
