Nice effort, but instead of moving/pivoting from the hips, try to pivot at the shoulders while keeping your body straight and stiff and lower it all the way. If that's too difficult then just do the negative portion or tuck your legs further into your body. Keep it up and you'll get it eventually.
I first saw this done by Bruce Lee. Good drills!
