I wonder if there's a small, built-in tube amp or preamp & what kind of stylus does it take; steel needles? Are they still obtainable & how often do they need changing ?
@Destry7 Sorry Pal, no electronics of any kind on this portable Victrola! Did you notice the hand crank on the side?, and the way he set down the diaphram stylus on the record? No, this is strictly old school, I'm talkin' Tommy Edison, Bud, What you are hearing is pure mechanical amplification through a megaphone. I should know, I have a parlor model in my dining room, and it's nearly 100 years old!
I think someone's spoofing us... the music is right but Shaw never recorded on a Victor Red Seal. In fact this particular number was originally recorded on the Bluebird label.
The title was inspired by, of all things, lousy restaurant service.
