1st let's be clear..Spike Lee is a filmmaker and Tyler Perry is a playwright who happened to turn his plays into movies. THERE'S A BIG DIFFERENCE! It's just like a singer now wanting to an actress....everything isn't for everyone....I like both Tyler and Spike for different reasons..

seems to me tyler perry has more talent and the ability to amass a wider audience in such a short than spike's whole career. tyler is laughing all the way to the bank and have his audience laughing with him. Tyler knows how to tap into the "Good Christians" pockets. what i don't understand is the same ones who were "Fighting The Power" when Do The Right Thing came out, are the same ones who found Jesus & are turning against Spike. But even Perry's silliest characters have heart and spirit.
