Personally, Zelda 2 wasn't my thing, but that in no way means it was bad. I for one thought the battle system for the field was novel, and the music, as in all Zelda games, was to die for. Quoting James, the common player/viewer in this day and age thinks in black and white, either it's good or it sucks, and that's just not how things should be.

It's kind of like how alot of people don't like Wind Waker or any of the "Toon" games because it had a cartoony look unlike Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. That's it. Half of them never even picked it up and played it but say it sucks for that reason. Same goes for Zelda 2. Alot of people didn't like it simply because it wasn't like the first. That's it. They probably never touched the game. I did.. It was.. okay. not the best. not by a long shot.

I wish newer Zeldas had a map size the size of Zelda 2. It was really hard for me, but I still like the overall style. Remember it was made when Zelda was still defining its style. I think Link to to the Past cemented the Zelda world, and Ocarina of Time expanded it with Gorons and Gerudos.

I've owned 3 cartridge copies of this game, as well as having the Gamecube's Zelda series compilation disc version. Love it.

Zelda has gotten way too puzzle oriented over the last 20 years after Zelda 2's release. Give me more action and obscure paths and things to figure out, less linearity, too.

I don't want every fight to feel like I'm trying to solve a Rubic's cube, but I'll be playing Skyward Sword anyway.

Being Link felt so great, in the first two games.
