No the A8 and A8L have the 4.2L V8 or the 6.0 to 6.3 (depending on year) W-12, it is a W-12 not a V-12, and the S8 came with the 5.2L V-10

@roydied15 wrong v6between v6 = w 12 and it's different of v12 , on v12 there are 6 cylinders by 2 , on w12 there are 3 cylinders by 4. The engine w12 is shortest.

@roydied15 In fact, Audi has been developing the W12 since 1991, long before VW knew what does that W mean. W12 came into production in 1998 with the A8, 3 years before passat came out in 2001 wearing something similar, W8. W12 is two merged VR6s, shaping 4 banks with 3 cylinders each. Buying Audi was VW's smartest activity.

@roydied15 Judging by the fact that Audi owned Lamborghini, their cars were a step ahead in the category of everyday cars, but not only. The fact that got Audi "drowned" is that Audi's prices were a step ahead too. Audi would be more like Porsche without VW, with much more beauty and design and a much wider range of engines. The interiors 1st try to catch up with the luxury character of Audi and then they try to match and overtake rival comforts and technologies.

@noname69690 97 was the last year they were actually made in germany. now they are all made in canada. i love my 97 Avant. it's got 180k miles and still runs like new. everything works in and on it. you can tell it's a true german car because everything under the hood and in the interior is in german, and i live in Illinois XD
