@SophieOcean No, the French didn't join the fight until the colonies began to get the upper hand. Once continental forces delivered a few crushing blows to the English campaign, the French began to provide naval and arms supports.

@jmfigone209 The French were persuaded to join in the fight after the Battle of Saratoga, and after that they provided vital support in terms or military and financial assistance. Without that assistance, Washington would not have been able to push the Brits into Yorktown, or to implement the siege that ultimately defeated them. French participation in the Revolutionary War was absolutely fundamental to the American victory, and that is a fact that many try to deny out of ideology and ignorance.

I was actually in Kosovo when the movie came out, and Mel Gibson went over there to watch it with us for the first time. It was great! Thank you for watching, my friend!
