  • I am very happy to see the vidoe from you, hopefully the others also are happy for You Level curves; partial derivatives; tangent plane approximation.

  • Steady I Really Like This Video Level curves; partial derivatives; tangent plane approximation.

  • Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always Level curves; partial derivatives; tangent plane approximation.

  • Nice Video Lecture 08: Level curves partial derivatives tangent plane approximation. That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You

  • I Really Like The Video From Your Level curves; partial derivatives; tangent plane approximation

  • Your Video Is Very Useful Sharing partial derivatives tangent plane approximation.

  • after i watched this video, my insight is very open because the video is very good to give information Level curves; partial derivatives; tangent plane approximation

  • hmz könnte saltos schlagen so happy

  • Now I am starting love Calculus. This awakens my interest.

  • thanks for the information!

  • Brilliant stuff.

  • 43:00 excellent drawing of partial derivative

  • He has legible handwritting, which is a plus ^_^

  • lol. i like the way he says temperature. (hope i spelled it correctly)

    he's awesome!

  • i want to ask some questions (preferable an MIT student)

I know this part of calculus can be easy but how does teachers star getting deeper in these courses?

Is the level really, really high?

plese contact me if possible i want some information about MIT.

I'm a physics student right now 1º term from the begining it was really really challenging (specially physics basic math and calculus)

nice vid btw it's good for enteering to new grounds when you are just beginning

  • my problem is that im studying multivariable calculus and the textbook keeps refering proofs to advanced calculus. what is advanced and what is elementary ??? where can I read advanced calculus? my current textbook is thomas calculus 11th edition

  • @h0wud0in2 I also use Thomas calculus... It seems to me that the MIT courses for Multivariable Calculus and Single variable Calculus covers the topics of the book. Sometimes proofs are based on a expert understanding in number theory. Some proofs you have to syudy for a PhD in mathmatics (or a chinese child) to understand. If they just refer to something advanced it probably means that it takes more than 30+ pages to explain at the level of the book.

  • More professors need to teach like him. Amazing professor!

  • This is masterful lecturing.

  • Math - this is how you do it.

Oh, and I lol'd at 22:48 when they clapped for him.

  • Great Lecture!! Helped me a lot.

  • OMG. AMAZING.

  • Excellent teacher! Excellent organization.

  • Well, goodbye to my old calculus teacher!!! Welcome MIT!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fun fact: This prof started his masters leading to his Ph.D when he was 14

    :|

  • @FIFAMAN07C3 damn...he finished kindergarten while his mom was in her second trimester

  • ahhh... now i see where taylor series come from... something my cal textbook failed to mention anywhere... if i just knew this, taylor series would have made so much more sense at that time...

  • Awesome videos. Just to let everyne know, you can donate to the open course ware through their website. Also, you can buy books through amazon where MIT gets money. I dontated because I really believe in what they are trying to achieve.

  • This is the best teacher I ever seen. :D

  • Open source rocks!!!!!

  • Jesus Christ he's great at teaching. I now understand the difference between spending $50,000 per year and $10,000 per year. At least they're paying for the tuition so I get to watch these videos for free.

  • @katee808 Starting next month, I'll be paying the price for you =)

  • And do you know if there's another university that puts its lectures on youtube(or other video channel)?

    Thank you.

(I loved the moveable board too... i wish i have some like that in my university)

  • What's the name of the teacher?

  • Prof. Denis Auroux

  • im doing distance learning and this guy is saving my ass.

you cant imagine how hard is to learn calculus 2 from a book ! (or BAD book).

Its easier for me to hear this french talking in english than to read the book which is written in my mother tongue (spanish), so figure it out !

    thanks dude !

  • oh and by the way, that intro starts to piss me off after watching so many lectures !

  • math is easy if you got the right book. Just pick a book with a lot of examples.

  • any to recommend me?

  • not really. I am sure you can get it from the bookstore or library.

  • Adams - Calculus A complete course.

    Helped me

  • Calculus- Michael Spivak.

  • Spivak's calculus might be to confusing for someone that's starting, but is an awesome book.

  • @hanzellmo Richard Courant n Fritz John

  • omg! he's so cute!!!! i love this french teacher!!! the french education sistem is the best that's why he's so good!

  • it's not. There are so many other countries that have better education than France. But it is a fact that USA has the best higher level education in the world. I love France and this professor is great, but it's not because he is French

  • omg.... I know this is stupid, but I have to say it. That movable board is awesome man!!! Go MIT!!!

  • @inuyashalivesbaby haha i know what you mean! i study at LUMS univerity, Lahore, Pakistan and our science department is inspired by MIT.. we have moving boards here too its so much fun haha :D

  • @inuyashalivesbaby

There are boards like that at my school.

Not that special of a device. Common at large universities.

  • @hellomate639

Good for you and your university. :)

  • @inuyashalivesbaby

Nah, just saying that my university isn't a great one (it's great by some standards, nobel prize winners have taught here), but it's easy to get into this one.

  • @hellomate639

I made that comment two years ago. Can you imagine me saying that aloud in a MIT classroom?? lmao. That's why I don't go there...

Believe it or not, I'm not that shallow. Don't judge my character based on that one comment. I'm teacher's assistant for a calculus lab at my university now. I have 23 students. lol.

  • @inuyashalivesbaby

    I'm not judging. Lol.

I'm just saying quite plainly that those boards aren't a very impressive feature.

  • @hellomate639 in a quite plainly condescending pompous way... That's all.

  • @inuyashalivesbaby

Oh, get over academia already. I'm not being condescending and pompous: I think it's cool that you're a T.A.

You're probably sensitive because you're in academia. I am too.

  • Thank you so much!

  • SUPERSTAR!!!!!!!!!

Whoever is responsible for this sort of thing, please make more of him.

  • I suppose you could ask his parents to try. Otherwise, we will have to wait until someone perfects human cloning.

  • man this teacher is fuckin dope. He explains everything so well and makes it look so easy even though its not. My current calculus 3 teacher is killing me right now. She cant speak english worth shit so i cant understand what she's saying. Also its a 3 hour class 2 days a week so its hard to keep up. These videos are really helping me out though.

  • @punjabistan01 I agree, I'm only 14 and I understood it better than the thing I understand at school!

  • the teach is from lyon france,,he's great

  • i think it's obviously seen that he is from france as he pronounce "r" with french pronunciation

  • this teacher is the best!!..

  • This is fantastic, very clear explanations. I'm currently taking Calculus 3 in Summer session and I work a full time (40 hours per week) so I have no life... well Calc 3 is my currently life. But I love it

  • i'm doing the same exact thing. the 2 days (monday and wednesday) that i have class are my 2 days off from work. it sucks.

  • Thanks this is very helpful, my fav teacher :D

  • 41:26 differenti-able :D

    5/5

  • is he french? his accent is so funny

  • cool

  • Hes really good at explaining, not like my professor :<

  • This helped me a lot!
