The purpose of the Flotilla was to break the weapons blockade. There is no shortage of food in Gaza. There is a shortage of Missiles, Mortars and Reinforced Concrete. Both Egypt and Israel offered to allow ALL the aid in, after being checked. They did not want this, because the purpose was not aid, but to break the weapons blockade.

If Gaza simply declared peace and stopped trying to destroy Israel the embargo would not be necessary. However a Dictator needs an enemy to justify his power.
