I remember years back some Met fan calling up Pete Franklin and saying that they should trade Wally Backman for Don Mattingly straight up and that he thought the Yanks would go for it because they needed a second baseman. Pete was typically Pete about it, which was always a blast to listen to. I think that may have been the stupidest call but I'm sure there were worse than that. Somebody should put together a compilation or something.
