When I unlocked the quest, I tried it with Blazing Falchion, but it didn't work. So I decided to create that LS and with it I managed to kill Gaoren. Then I killed it 2 more times in order to get enough materials to create the Indra armor.

A lot of you guys keep asking about "what if I use this or this"... You can do it with a lot of different equipments. You can use pretty much anything to repel him, and almost the same to kill him. This video is only one possibility.

The armor can also be changed, but this one makes the fight very easy, that's all.

Last but not least, keep in mind that you can't KILL him alone with HR1 bows/bowguns. You might be able to repel him though, depending on your stuff.

@24alexjames yes, but I didn't recommend it 'cause it has a very small sharpness. And BTW, no, dragon element does not do more damage to him, except on two spots : body, and weakspot (which is non reachable with a LS).

In fact, his feet are weak, so he takes a lot of damage on them, and on his face too. This explains my strategy ;)

@Eskalial i have full rathalos armor(attack up medium) blue wing gs (attack 720, sharpness green, fire att: 380) an with some speedtrap gems i get trap master. now in all together i would have 820 attack with 380 fire att and the ability to put bombs down faster. could i by any possible chance defeat shen gaoren. oh an could i get all his legs 1st lvl bleeding then go to 2nd lvl bleeding one at a time?

@Eskalial alright thanks. i tried it out earlier an well..urgent mission ended by no more time, was successful but i kept on attacking him then then he actually died. i go to carve an right in middle of first carve rewards popped up an couldnt carve anymore. damn bastards -_-

I only managed to kill Shen by fully reddening his legs then going under him while he was low to the ground then attacking the underside of his shell..

@QaDri93 you have to get all four legs bright red and then make him stagger one more time to get this effect.

Moreover, he has to be "standing" while you make him stagger to get him to fall and "heal" his legs.

@MalvaPura Killing it with a bow is almost impossible. You'd need a G ranked bow or a good HR one to kill him solo.

Also, Ad-hoc party is out here in France, so I think it is too in the US.

@486danny you only need the rathalos skill set, the eager cleaver isn't what he is weak against.. i would use blood or a dragon type sword (LONG SWORDS FTW) but i beat him with a hammer, 884 raw damage (anvil hammer) so i guess it's possible

@xLink95 only luck can get you some. You have good chances with the quest "a troublesome pair" or the HR3 rathalos in gathering hall.

@xLink95 Another factor is.. Break his wings , you can tell whether his wings are broken if you constantly attack it and you saw something like glasses pieces breaking out , or you can just depend on your eyes and see if his wings look rotten or not

@CathyMacars The final raw power was 1027 (1075 with the spirit gauge filled), and 250fire (attack buffs do not affect elements). The base power of my weapon is 768/250.

I had the felyne kitchen attack up and adrenaline+2. If I added powerseeds it would've been even better ^^ (not to mention the possibility to add powercharm and powertalon... that would give +71)

But the actual damages are not equal to attack+element ^^

@dannvongola You can kill him without, but you'll have to use an armor with attack up, add some power seeds and don't make mistakes.

But since the guide is meant for beginners, I don't rely on skill. Considering this, adrenaline+2 is the easiest way tto do it :)

I killed it now, it was easy, i was expecting it to be hard lol. I used the Wyvern Blade 'Blood" and tigrex armour. I was battling the village elder so its probably easier then the one you battled.

The tigrex tooth is what is called a trap weapon. It's raw power is outstanding and it is very easy to obtain however it's actual power is much much lower due to its' low affinity and the fact that it is a longsword. The most powerful weapon in the game is actually a lance, not the hunting horn with 1800+ attack. Attack power isn't everything and this armour has a higher attack power than your tigrex armour anyway. Look at the first video and read the description...

@guromaon With a bow, you won't be able to even repel him (except if you're using a high or G ranked bow on elder gaoren).

I personnaly prefer attack large + reckless abandon because it is usable on every monster but it is easier to get ad+2 in the early game. ;)

1) I prefer Wyvern Blade 'Blood', but I think it is doable with Saber.

2) Elder's Troublesome pair, or gathering hall's HR3 Rathalos/Rathian.

They are pretty rare in your situation, so don't give up ;)

yes, that's the basic technique. It's the easiest, and it is quite effective. So I think it is the best suited for a guide ;)

every monster is quicker with a hammer. I've tried every fight with every weapon... Hammer is more than just strong. It is the best weapon type of the game, no matter what. A master of the hammer type will always clear missions faster than anybody else. That's all.

yea, but it's easier cause you make him flinch more. otherwise, HBG him and use heroics. it'll be faster and safer than hammering him.

you don't need to ask on every parts of the video XD

You have to kill at least 2 times each monster in the elder quests to unlock it for her 6* quests (last quests). And if you clear every elder quests, including shen gaoren, you unlock the final invitation ( 2 rajangs ;) )

you have to kill at least two times each monsters she gives you. This will unlock shen gaoren.

And then, for final invitation, you need to clear every single quest she has, including shen gaoren.

Nice clean kill. I haven't used longswords that much myself, so I learned a few useful things from this video + part 1. First time I killed shen I used blagonga armor + Titernia, only attack buffs were from mega demondrug & power pill when shen was staggered. Managed to kill him at 30:50 when the mission was already over and he was fleeing, so I only got to carve him once...
