We are a Council based in Victoria Australia, and have developed 5 community gardens for our residents to freely come and grow organic produce. A healthy environment equals a healthy community. Please see our video, we hope you enjoy it: Search: Hume City Council Community Gardens
I applaud this project for it's focus on community. It's great to see people coming together like this and make their neighborhood more beautiful, inclusive and productive.
Apparently you believe everything you are told. Public funds of $93,000 went into this project, not to mention the value of the land, all for the benefit of 40 people. I can think of better uses.

A lot of this is bull. The garden was put onto a publicly-owned space that was scheduled for another purpose. These guys didn't rescue anything, they expropriated land other people wanted to use for other purposes. There was no community consultation other than these people and their friends. (Must have had friends at city hall.) Public money and public land for the use of a few.
another wonderful video, again, yalls work is great. This is pretty incredible what MOBY has accomplished any word as to how the veggies are tasting now. These folks really are taking the road less traveled!!!

Inspired by City Repair's 'Village Building Convergence' in Portland, Oregon, planning is underway for the Ashevillage Building Convergence '08 - a 10-day hands-on citywide event in Asheville, North Carolina. Through a participatory process, the simultaneous installation of beautiful on-the-ground community projects will be created.
That's the fun--cob is for everybody, for the people: degrees not needed. Your little boy having fun, along with the other children, made our taping visit so special.
Can I start a MOBY here in Halifax?

@Norm231
Norm you are correct $93,000 did go towards the project ( not all of it has
been spent) But more than 40 people
enjoy it. I live just down the street and
looking at a garden instead of an empty
garbage fill lot.

@Norm231 Sounds like you didn't list to the conversation. They converted an unused space, went through government channels, and built community.

I had so much fun cobbing last summer.
BTW, that's my little boy running around in the background. Only 3yrs old, and he's becoming a cob engineer.
