The TV-out comes out from the 3.5 mm jack ;) After a 2-year time, battery is still doing its job (lasts about 3 days of normal activity). Camera (8mpx) is working fine though you have to stand still a few seconds after the shooting click. After i've used this phone I can say: This was a good investment and it made the difference between other phones at the time Omnia HD was born. SAMSUNG Touchscreens are the best phones on the market with the best price-quality rating. I'll buy me Galaxy S2 now!
I have it :P, only thing I hate is that there aren't many applications actually made for it like the iphone, if anyone knows a website that fully supports omnia hd apps please tell me
az you can find it on ebay for 400 dollars new.i took mine brand new for 500 dollars 4 months ago.but in stores in european countries dont know if the phone relished in the us was around 600 to 700 dollars
i have this phone and the screen is awsome like a portable blue ray lol the 3d graphics are awsome 2 specially when you play games and the camera is very good.
the hd camera could ve been better or at least full hd but its a high definition so thats something
the only downside of the phone id say is the os
symbian is not as strong least for now with the iphone and droid. There are only few games to install and few apps.
but as a media device is almost perfect like the ipod touch
Im on AT&T and with "unlocked" phones like this, they cant reconize the phone so they cant tie you to a data plan. But what the point if you cant use the data the phone is capable of?
i have the original omnia and i'm seriously impressed with this new hd version. i hope it comes out serviced by verizon but will definitely try it out before i buy. loved the review!!!
The one thing I would really like if this does come out to verizon is that they put new applications. Verizon is known for not putting effort into there phones once they are released, I own the LG Dare and it is great don't get me wrong, but the problem is that there is no free applications. I mean there are, but once you get it you need to buy other thing in it to use it or make it fictional, If verizon just keep upgrading this and add application then it might be a threat for the Iphone
So the first 500Mb is £5, the next 500Mb (@ 80p/Mb afai uderstand) costs another £400!!!.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but this is the cost I've been given from web / phone sources, and there have been people charged £80 - > £100 for going over (lost the threads, sorry, but these were definate real complaints from people who didn't realise they'd gone over 500Mb).
Meanwhile, you can get a free PCdongle where you can get > Gbs for £20.
Orange Uk are absolute arseholes. I've wasted hours trying work out their plans because their website and telesales don't understand the score. Here's the pathetic deal:
Other providers offer 'unlimited access' for the same price or a little more, but you can get up to 3Gb (6x) for an extra couple quid elsewhere.
If you really want this phone, like me, there is NO WAY of getting over 500Mb without paying about £1 per meg extra.
What's the point of having that exciting Youtube button on the widgets when Orange (only UK provider) cap their monthly 3g @ 500Mb? I've used more than half that amount surfing Youtube over the last 90 minutes : (
yes but it make looks a toy to the others (iphone/n97) the shit is the fucking symbian that is not compatible with the same symbian versions and lower versions making it a full of shit... i want android inside my omnia hd
well it says Samsung "Omnia so any company that sells mobiles should have samsung as they are a majority competitor up there with nokia and sony and this model was released in June 08
You are incorrect...this is the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD..not the Omnia...it was just released in May 2009, and available for order in July 09 in the U. S....I have it..it is awesome...brand new and firmware updates are still coming out...
cof454..it works w/ATT and Tmobile..better w/ATT i U. S....3G only works part of the time, but the rest of the phone and wi fi more than make up for it..will also support the faster than 3G network ATT is currently rolling out..
How is this phone compared with Samsung ultratouch?
Design wise, I prefer the samsung ultratouch but I have read the reviews of this phone and apparently, it looks like the functions of the samsung ultratouch are a far cry from omnia especially the wi-fi function, audio capabilities (does it mean that a headset cannot be attached to the ultratouch?), and good touch sensitivity.
Value wise, will the value of the ultratouch drop faster than the omnia or the other way?
Sorry for comment spamming, but I also thought I would add something -- it seems that Samsung stopped mass production of the OmniaHD i8910 in mid July to straighten out a few things. Production will resume August first. It is not known at the moment whether the problem is firmware/software or hardware related. I really hope it's not hardware related, because I and many other people have already purchased the device. To be honest, there are a lot of bugs, but it does still have potential.
Samsung does not really have a big USA marketing force for any of their products. Usually the ones we see over here are their low end models. Exactly why, I'm not sure. Maybe it will change if the Omnia II (i8000) becomes popular -- who knows, maybe next year AT&T or T-Mobile will pick up the HD -- but I seriously doubt it.
The original Omnia i900 was released in the USA for Verizon only. The international version of the phone was GSM\3G, but will only work with European 3G frequency bands. Same thing with the OmniaII (i8000)...It will be released by Verizon in August, and the International GSM\3G version was launched in Singapore last weekend -- no US 3G band support. The OmniaHD has no plands to be picked up by any US carriers at this time. The international version is GSM\3G, but again, no US 3G.
The Omnia II (i8000 -- runs windows mobile) will be picked up by Verizon in August. There isn't a USA version of the i8910 phone because Samsung doesn't think there is a market for it over here.
While Symbian phones do hold a large percentage of the global market, in the USA the numbers are very low.
Also the firmware for this unit (as I mentioned) is not really polished yet. In fact, I read that Samsung have held off new sales of this phone until August so they can correct things.
Here's the official word from samsung..."We cant comment on products that havent been announced, but at this time, there are no plans to bring the Omnia Pro B7610 or B7320 or the i8910HD to the U.S."
You can see the other comments on their samsungusanews website.
I Talked To The People At The Samsung Experience Store In NY.They Told Me That They Have No Word On When This Phone Is Coming To The U.S. And They Dont Think That It Will Ever Come To Here. DAMMIT !!!!
nope but maybe thinking of getting one.. im gonna buy some phone quite soon anyway.. i was actually looking around for phones in a cellphone store today, and it was there:) for the price of about 8.000kr , thats maybe 980dollars
iPhone's touch screen fucken' own the Omnia's. The guy almost have to rip the screen off with his finger nails to register a response. With the features, it should've had a capacitance touch screen. Then and ONLY then can it compete.
Feels like the touch screen is not very responsive, he seems to be having a lot of unregistered touches and slides. The screen does look sharp and bright.
I hope this comes to verizon, i require Windows mobile for my business and nothing else will do, my current Omnia serves me pretty well..but that HD version looks incredible..and web browsing i know would be top notch using Skyfire
They could definitely improve a little on the fluidity of flipping through the screens - navigation/flipping through screens on the iPhone is SO seamless and fluid.... that's probably why so many people prefer it over any other phone.
Since I'm not under contract any longer, If this phone comes to Verizon I'm switching over from AT&T for it. Verizon 3G is almost nationwide, they have 3G in small towns RURAL AREAS, whereas AT&T only have it in the cities as of now.
mine keeps having wierd glitches like: when I'm watching a video, it will suddenly go onto the main menu, when i come to unlock it - half the time it will just go onto a black screen instead of the menu and I will have to take the battery out. Also when I'm browsing my files the same picture fills half of the 120 files I already have!! Does anyone else have this kind of problem and should i get it replaced??
i believe if your phone is acting like you detailed i suggest you go to your nearest phone provider and tell them about your issues. If your phone has insurance than there should be no problem. They should be able you give you a new phone and if it happens again yo may want to think about new phone choices.
I like the iPhones looks and the touch screen because its so fluid etc. But if you compare it to this Omnia HD the iPhones features are really poor. I wish they equipped the iPhone 3GS a little better. For example: OLED screen & better camera, HD recording... The things this phone alerady has.
Equipping the iPhone 3GS with newer, relatively immature technologies that push the price of the phone up even more, while doing little for the mainstream consumer market would have been a terrible business decision by Apple.
Its what these other manufacturers have been doing without thinking, like Samsung, Nokia and HTC i.e. overloading their phones with hardware features but not focusing on the user experience. This Omnia phone in particular has terrible responsiveness and complex UI.
Well I like HTC Better, Don't get me wrong Samsung Is great too. But the Touch HD has Widows mobile and look's a lot more better. But the new HTC Touch pro 2 Is going to come out and some people are calling It HD Pro.
Please, SOMEBODY tell me when is this coming out in the U.S. for Verizon? People were saying May 26th but it's already June and Verizon still doesn't have it. Someone fill me in, please.
Yes, it's a provider. They have the normal Omnia but when I called and asked them about the Omnia HD they never heard of it, yet told me that it's probably going to come to Verizon eventually. I'd just like to know when "eventually" is?
I bought it from italy it costs 499 euros but i got a discount and i only paid it 450 :D...i gotta say that it is very fast...very little response time
I know im speaking from personal opinion here but DONT FALL FOR IT. Samsungs are not good phones. They are STYLE phones and are all about looks. These phones will frustrate you with its interface will make you pull your hair out. I have a tocco ultra the screen is not that good, touch screen is SLOW and doing simple things on it takes a lifetime. I tried deleting 200 messages yesterday , it took 5 minutes. My N95 Deleted 2000 in less time than that.
think about it...a 720p movie is like 4 gigs...dvd quality is lyk 1 gig so hu wuld put that much work to put a 720p movie into a fone??its a cool screen but not practical
Hey I want to buy the Samsung Omnia or Lg Cookie kp500. I just cant decide on what one I want. I just want to know some feebacks on the phone. Is it good? Does is work good? any more imformation you would gladly share w me would be very appericated.
the biggest problem with non iphone touch screen phones is that, you press something, and annoyingly often nothing happens and you have to click again. if they achieved the fluidity and coherence of the iphone touch technology this phone would be much better.
oh give me a break. the iphone is seriously way overrated. there are seriously already dozens of phones out already that beat the iphone it's just that the marketing for the iphone is over the top that nobody even takes the time to see how other phones are. iphone does the same shit with having to press buttons multiple times...i have one and it has the same frustrations with trying to type and touch. the ONLY thing slightly better is how smoothly the finger flick scrolling looks. thats ALL
i said my brother has the iPhone you nitwit. I have used the phone on numerous occasions and had the same fucking frustration with the QWERTY typing on the touch screen interface. It would either miss the letter that I hit or not register me pressing it at all. Granted this wasn't at ALL TIMES but it STILL had the same bullshit problem. You're just a fanboy who is too biased to admit that your precious phone is not perfect. iPhone is just marketed out the ass so people think it's the best.
Damn hard choise between this and htc touch hd/diamond2 and maybe nokia n97. I just ordered 1 of each from web shop and first that arrives i take and cancel others :=)
Only thing im still trying to figure is what major differences are between WM and Symbian??
Dont think they make this anymore, but ey im not complaining still got mine, works perfectly!

3g is 3g and should be available on similar price plans whether from a phone or laptop dongle. A laptop dongle has allsorts of plans up to 2Gb for £20
But to prove how shortsighted and behind Orange are, they can't understand a phone like the HD could use more than 500Mb (just 3 hours Youtube).
Sensibly want to buy another 500Mb for another £5? You can't do it. Its another 80p/ Mb. (£400)
Buy a dongle and you can get 20Gb for a sensible price, but nothing above 500Mb on mobile. : (

The OmniaHD has no plands to be picked up by any US carriers at this time. The international version is GSM\3G, but again, no US 3G.

Guys, be aware of a few things before you purchase this device.
1.) Samsung removed the FM Transmitter functionality in the production rom
2.) Samsung removed the 3d task manager at 4:45 from the production rom
3.) Samsung removed the three cubes at the top of the widget screen from the final rom
4.) This phone will never have a USA version, I've contacted samsung and they have confirmed it.

i believe if your phone is acting like you detailed i suggest you go to your nearest phone provider and tell them about your issues. If your phone has insurance than there should be no problem. They should be able you give you a new phone and if it happens again yo may want to think about new phone choices.

The touchscreen is activated by the electric charges in your body, that means not by temperature nor pressure.
arziv 2 years ago
wow, each day they come out with a new damn tech... Awsome! so this means that u cant use a styllus pen or something like it?

does anyone know if the touchscreen is activated by temperature, like iphone, or pressure, like standard omnia?
mitinho 2 years ago
This phones' features are so awesome!
I like the iPhones looks and the touch screen because its so fluid etc. But if you compare it to this Omnia HD the iPhones features are really poor. I wish they equipped the iPhone 3GS a little better. For example: OLED screen & better camera, HD recording... The things this phone alerady has.
yugoboy17 2 years ago
Equipping the iPhone 3GS with newer, relatively immature technologies that push the price of the phone up even more, while doing little for the mainstream consumer market would have been a terrible business decision by Apple.
Its what these other manufacturers have been doing without thinking, like Samsung, Nokia and HTC i.e. overloading their phones with hardware features but not focusing on the user experience. This Omnia phone in particular has terrible responsiveness and complex UI.

Please, SOMEBODY tell me when is this coming out in the U.S. for Verizon? People were saying May 26th but it's already June and Verizon still doesn't have it. Someone fill me in, please.
Thanks in advance.

Eerm I have no idea, but what is Verizon? :p Is it a provider?
OwnerDutchie 2 years ago 2
If you live in a country besides the US, then yes, its our most popular provider, but if you DO live in the US, you sir are a complete dumbass.
Yellowlad 2 years ago
Well then I'm lucky. I live in Holland, so I don't know what providers you've got ;)
OwnerDutchie 2 years ago 3
Yes, it's a provider. They have the normal Omnia but when I called and asked them about the Omnia HD they never heard of it, yet told me that it's probably going to come to Verizon eventually. I'd just like to know when "eventually" is?
Thanks.

My N95 Deleted 2000 in less time than that.

seoulboi 2 years ago
the biggest problem with non iphone touch screen phones is that, you press something, and annoyingly often nothing happens and you have to click again. if they achieved the fluidity and coherence of the iphone touch technology this phone would be much better.
alexhazeldean 2 years ago
oh give me a break. the iphone is seriously way overrated. there are seriously already dozens of phones out already that beat the iphone it's just that the marketing for the iphone is over the top that nobody even takes the time to see how other phones are. iphone does the same shit with having to press buttons multiple times...i have one and it has the same frustrations with trying to type and touch. the ONLY thing slightly better is how smoothly the finger flick scrolling looks. thats ALL
wushdishmeen 2 years ago 2
ok lets see if you really have an iphone.
how many items can you have in the calendar on one day?
what is the character limit in notes?
can you download pictures from safari to the phone and can you stream live web music?
why is it difficult to use itunes while on the go?
how many different boxes are natively in the settings tab?
in the settings bar there is a tab called mail, contacts... and one other word. what is the other word?
If you really had one you wouldnt be wanting a different phone.
alexhazeldean 2 years ago
i said my brother has the iPhone you nitwit. I have used the phone on numerous occasions and had the same fucking frustration with the QWERTY typing on the touch screen interface. It would either miss the letter that I hit or not register me pressing it at all. Granted this wasn't at ALL TIMES but it STILL had the same bullshit problem. You're just a fanboy who is too biased to admit that your precious phone is not perfect. iPhone is just marketed out the ass so people think it's the best.
wushdishmeen 2 years ago 3
alexhazeldean - I watched another phone reviewer who owns an Iphone. He says the Omnia HD responds faster and has a far better screen than the Iphone.
The user name is stevelitchfield and the video is called "the phone show 78" but it's a pre-release model.
