No you have to use fertilizer with Ammonium nitrate and no oil and deisel works the best for it for the AN i would say getting it from the Walmart cold pack just crack it open and crush the white crystals :)

The fertilizer is what contains the AN so yeah if you have pure it would work a lot better and its kinda a pain to detonate i would suggest using some APNC or just AP to detonate it

Look at the purple haze around the explosion, in secs 6 to 8... Could it be the air ahead of the shock wave burning from the high speed of it, until the pressure ahead of it diminishes as it expands, slowing it down further as it hits the air before it? After all, by the time the shock wave appears to hit the camera, shaking it, there are no more hazes.

It could very well be that the air around the explosion get so hot that it burns the oxygen around the blast, it aso could be some sorta glare from the lense of the camera, the reflecting light and different colors from the explosion could of reflected off the lense causeing that purple haze, but must admit thats a pretty powerful explosion.

Actually blowjobftw knows more about explosives than you he is just a little confused, oxygen balance is a key part in explosive compositions as it determines what the products of the detonation will be, ANFO is oxygen positive which means that the main product will be thick white smoke, this black smoke (which is a notable feature of oxygen negative explosives like TNT) is most likely the dirt and dust being mixed in with the massive blast.

Fireball from anfo dosent have fire. Allmost nothing. Thats because its perfectly oxygen balanced. And there is alot of black smoke(Un oxydised carbon) in that explosion, so it clearly not have oxygen enough. My first guess is TNT.
