I still can't ever get my head around American portions :-s. That... thing (burrito? Looked like a Fajita) was HUGE! I remember when I was in Florida, and every time I ordered food I was just amazed... and slightly disturbed, by the amount of food presented to me. they probably have mixed proportions.american proportions especially have inflated in the past half-century due in part by our rise in standard of living. also our demanding consumers.japan is a different culture that has had less time than the us being modern and capitalist, i don't think they are as obsessed with the whole "bigger is better" sentiment.though, due to recent american influence and the rise in globalization.i'm sure you can find giant chipotle burritoes there somewhere, have fun!

Yeah, you're probably on to something there. Norway is classed as having the best standard of living, personal profits are the highest on Earth there and yet fresh fruit and mixed nuts outsell confectionary sweets! Japan is similar in that sense, fish is the most served dish in the country, and as everyone knows, fish is incredibly good for you :-p. As for me, I live off mars bars and pizza :-p.
