  • Were you popping flash here, or it all just ambient light?

  • All just ambient light.

  • Awesome video! I started towards the back and kept at a slow pace, but watching this reminds me of the ride, but is pretty surreal! I'd love to have filmed my entire ride but I'm not that fast and my camera only films 60 mins.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Thanks chromie! I used to do straight video of my rides until I discovered the timelapse feature on my digital cam. It speeds things up and definitely makes things more surreal.

  • By the way wildbell you inspired me to capture my future rides on video...LOL...I'm gonna go out and buy a small camera today to mount on front of my bike. :)

  • Very cool 7sal. The cam I use is a Canon SD1000. Whatever brands you consider you should make sure they have a timelapse feature.

  • Cool thanks for the info. I didn't even know that cameras came with time lapse features. (LOL)

  • I'll go ya even one better. I had the Canon cam for several months before I discovered it had the timelapse feature!

  • Ha, Ha..

  • Thanks for the posting the video it is great!

  • This was my first bike tour. I did the marathon last year, and I couldnt do it this year beacause I am doing the San Diego marathon. My goal was to do it in less than 2 hours and according to my watch it took 90 min. Because I didnt kknow what to expect I went slower than I could have gone. Maybe 75-85 mins if I really pushed it.

  • Thanks desertnurse! Good luck with the SD marathon.

  • just got back from sd. completed the sd marathon with a pr of 5hr 22min

  • Great Video!! You were positioned right behind my at the start. I'm wearing some green camo. shorts and a black T-shirt...Thanks for sharing this.

  • My pleasure 7sal. Glad I was able to capture you on the camera at the beginning.

  • P.S. My time was 68 minutes. You're a freaking hammer to make 65. The difference is small, but still - I was about to vomit by the time we got to K-town.

  • Yeah bobby it was a hell of a ride. And 68's an excellent time! I may take a shot at 60 next year. It'll be a long shot, but what the hey. I'll make my chain's not as loose and I'll get as close to the start line as I can get.

  • It's impossible to tell, but judging by how fast you were going I bet you passed me somewhere around Venice blvd. near dawn. I was at that event too and there was a clump of people I was drafting on Venice. We were pacelining and echeloning like mad. A couple of people passed me right then and that's the only time I see a clump like that in your video.

That was a hell of a ride though, wasn't it?

    Peace.

  • I don't know what exactly is making me think this, but I liked last years course better than this years.

But that aside, this was a nice kick-off to a summertime I intend to have full of biking.

  • Me too Nyton. Apparently the route of the last two years was much more expensive logistically so the event organizers went back to this one, which had been the route for several years until 2007.

  • bummer that you had to stop. would of been 60 min. tour. i was just like you passing everyone but keeping it safe

  • Thanks cyrax. Not sure if I'll ever catch 60. Fastest I've ever completed it was 63 minutes. Had that chain drop not happened I would have bested that for sure.

As they say: there's always next year.
