Why did the game look more beautful in 1966 than today. Is it because the game was played mostly in the daytime or because the players weren't juiced up gorillas?
@huskyjerk No, it's a guy named Frank McCourt that's fouling things up. An owner that cares NOT about the fans or the team but only his bottom line. Thank goodness he put the Dodgers up for sale.
The Orioles Swept the Dodgers in four games even though in the first game the Dodgers scored two runs which the biggest was Jim Lefebvre's home run. The next three games they never touched home plate due to the amazing pitching of the Orioles that shut them out. This may had been the only time in world series history a team gets shut out three times consecutively.
@mbrand19971 Actually in the 1905 WS (Giants vs Athletics) ALL games were shutouts with the Giants winning 4 -1 and winning the last 3 by shutouts. An amazing feat was Christy Mathewson pitching 3 shutouts in 6 days!!! Something we'd never see in baseball probably ever again!!! bdog
@bdog1323 No Arguement here Christy Matthewson was a great pitcher in his time during the 1900's and perhaps he piched his best game of his career so on record this has happened twice in baseball history.

@joboots007 Ron Fairly was a great hitter when he played for the Montreal Expos in 1972 and this butt banger says that he hated Ron Fairly.I am wondering why you hate a nice gentleman who was a 20 year big leaguer with class and a nice approach to hitting?
I really miss memorial stadium and one of the greatest displays of baseball i ever seen in that stadium was by Robin Yount of the Milwaukee Brewers when they was in the american league.Ken Singleton was a good hitter to Lee May was good to when he was with the orioles.I remember the washington senators and the seattle pilots. The pilots moved to milwaukee and became the brewers and the senators moved to texas and became the rangers. That harmon killibrew was a hell of damn hitter to.
@wolfwolf31 You were the only man or woman Ive ever met who could actually deep throat Boog Powell,Frank Howard,Gates Brown,Harmon Killebrew,Norm Cash,Ted Kluszewski and Dave Kingmans big 10 inch dicks as well as swallow all their nut and wash it down with a Pabst blue ribbon beer.
I remember the orioles road games televised on tv and there televised game theme.Take your shoes off and put your feet up ,its time to meet them, them Baltimore Birds, relax, relax and be a bird watcher. And don't forget this, oriole baseball on channel 13.Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to orioles baseball,i am chuck thompson and its the orioles vs the royals live from royals stadium here in kansa city missouri. And don't forget the home run derby inning.
Brooks Robinson was my favorite oriole when i was a young boy growing up in Baltimore.I tell something,i seen some home runs hit in that stadium, and boy Boog Powell could really hit that ball.I seen Boog hit a ball against the cleveland indians and that ball shot of his bat like a damn bullet and he had a great glove at first. And Brooks Robinson was like a magician at third, you could not get nothing by him,and don't forget the blade Mark belanger at short stop, cal ripken was not as good as him
I remember all the great orioles players,Frank/Blair/Buford/Brooks/Boog/Belanger/Grich/Johnson/Bumbry/McNally/Palmer/Cuellar/Hendricks/Etchabarren/Baylor and many great more orioles.I grew up about 15 blocks from memorial stadium and i remember when i was a junior oriole.I lived and grew up on Willow Ave off of Cold Spring lane and York Road.May the oriole magic live on for ever and go orioles bring that world series trophy to Baltimore and add it to the 66,70,83 trophies.
@FRSFreeState -Dodger pitchers were prob exhausted from the grueling pennant race they were in. Orioles hitting was great; Dodger hitting was pathetic. Moe Drabowsky was amazing in relief in 1st gm. Palmer, Mcnally and Wally Bunker pitched shutouts. Beginning of Orioles having best record in all of MLB from 1966-1986. Orioles of past 10 yrs are a disgrace to some of those oriole teams
@kimv020887Are you serious? It's constantly the World Series of Poker. How is that complaining? It's an observation. Here comes another one, you're a little on the self-righteous side. Right?
@joedits1 You hit the nail of the head, but before ESPN took it over, it was the "Classic Sport Channel" it was even better. it used to be free on Dish Network, now you have to pay extra for it. I don't, who the hell would pay to see a poker game?? ZZZZZZZZZ.

Why can't the Dodgers draw well at home any more? I see their attendance is down over 300,000. Is it the economy?

Frank Robinson was incredible in '66, he really stuck it to the Reds for making the worst trade of all time.
hoosierlooker 11 months ago
@hoosierlooker --Frank was definitely the best hitter Orioles ever had (Eddie Murray somewhat distant second) Best hitter Reds ever had too

Great Baltimore Team with Cincinnati Reds Star Frank Robinson. Dodgers expected to easily beat Baltimore...reality and Robby hit them.
