If you really love doing something then you'll do whatever it takes to be good at it and even if you make no money doing it, you'll still quite happily do it for a career.

If you're good at something but don't love then it' won't give you much fulfilment and you wont be happy if you try and follow it up as a career.

He was trying to get across that you need to evaluate your situation and do what you're good at rather than love at first.
