If he would have made a wrong move such as acted startled or said anything or even moved his eyes while they were doing this, they would have "smoked" him. Being "smoked" at boot camp means having to certain exercises until the drill instructor is satisfied. This is mild compared to some of the crazy shit they do to try and make recruits crack.

@oocotter When I was in the Navy I was a MM and dated a Marine that did the same but even overseas only worked a 8-12hr day where I mostly did 18hr days and there were times when I didn't get to hit my rake after 40hrs.
@soinlove8306 Yeah when I was on my tours out at sea for 6 months I did many of those 16 hour days. Most days it was 6am to 10pm with a day or 2 going to bed earlier due to me having the 12-4am shift. I did 118 days straight out at sea on my OEF 2001-2002@ the Perisan Gulf area. Groundhog Day movie is what I went through.

I swear boot camp was the best and worst experience I have ever had and sometimes I wish I was back on MCRD. DI's are the greatest Marines hands down. OORAH
I graduated Marine recruit training in May of 1998 and memories similar to this video remain with me today. The intensity of Marine Corps boot camp is something I can always proudly know that I survived. Thank you too all the men and women in all the branches of the US armed forces that have served.

Hate to sound like a wimp, but I would want no part of this ever. I'm going on 30 years old and military life was always something that I felt wasn't for me. I wouldn't have a choice to join if I was drafted, but even then I would find a way to get out. Again, I don't want to seem cowardly, but everything army, marine corps, coast guard, air force, and navy, even army reserve or national guard or even boot camp to be a state trooper I want NOTHING to do with them nor do I care anything for them.

The ones that used tobacco before basic, including me, were fucking dying haha.

@oocotter When I was in the Navy I was a MM and dated a Marine that did the same but even overseas only worked a 8-12hr day where I mostly did 18hr days and there were times when I didn't get to hit my rake after 40hrs.

Most days it was 6am to 10pm with a day or 2 going to bed earlier due to me having the 12-4am shift. I did 118 days straight out at sea on my OEF 2001-2002@ the Perisan Gulf area. Groundhog Day movie is what I went through.

I graduated Marine recruit training in May of 1998 and memories similar to this video remain with me today. The intensity of Marine Corps boot camp is something I can always proudly know that I survived. Thank you too all the men and women in all the branches of the US armed forces that have served.

@taybad01 Well, you'll learn to fix that real quick. I'm in the Navy. Great Lakes is nowhere NEAR as intense as Paris Island. But it wasn't a day at the beach either. Those guys know how to break you down fast. I guarantee your laughing fits won't be any issue for them to break you of.
Good luck and have fun with it. Listen to your DIs. They are some of the best Marines you'll ever find. And, there's plenty to be learned from them.

Hate to sound like a wimp, but I would want no part of this ever. I'm going on 30 years old and military life was always something that I felt wasn't for me. I wouldn't have a choice to join if I was drafted, but even then I would find a way to get out. Again, I don't want to seem cowardly, but everything army, marine corps, coast guard, air force, and navy, even army reserve or national guard or even boot camp to be a state trooper I want NOTHING to do with them nor do I care anything for them.

People who say this is fake have obviously never gone to basic training. I went to Ft. Benning and my Drill Sergeants used to pull shit like this all the time because they thought it was funny. One of them used to sit in the killzone during sundays and put a huge dip of tobacco in and just watch us. Every now and then he would ask if we wanted some and just say too fucking bad. The ones that used tobacco before basic, including me, were fucking dying haha.
