Very true. If Semin played 82 games he's have gotten 104 points. Thing is unlike the other three, Semin's not that dominant player. He's got skill, but his physical edge doesn't allow him to utilize it. This may be a reason for all those injuries. Over his career he's averaged 63.5 games. I mean everyone goes through injuries, but the fact remains that some players have a tendency to be prone to injuries. So unless something changes, the fact remains he never scored more than 79 points.
On the Pens side...you have a guy in Crosby who wants to win but gets his team involved and can do it by himself if he really wants to and then you got GIno Malkin a probably uinderated Russian who can score goals till the cows come home

I don't think that Fluery is as good as Lundqvist, or that the Pens defense is as good as the Rangers... because let's face it, the Rangers strength is obviously their defense/goaltending... This series is going to come down to offense, and i think that the Caps have the better offense.

This is a series that either team could take in four or five games. As a Pens fan, I have to stand by my boys and believe they have the firepower to chase Varlamov out of the net, and the defense and backchecking to shut down the Caps' offensive stars.
Pens in 5. I say this because I watched game 7 of the washington newyork series and it took the capitals a long time to settle down and fid their groove...against the rangers who did not have the best series despite taking it to 7 games. Rangers goaltending kept them in the series that long but I feel that the pens dont have to rely as much on fleury because they will be able to attack more efficiently and keep washington on their heels.
In my Playoff Prediction video I said Caps in this one and its going to solely lie in the hands of Varlamov. He will be the dealbreaker. It think it goes to 7 games. And as Flyers fan, I should say that I would rather take Ovechkin and Semin over Crosby and Malkin, but its clear cut for me to go with 2 out of the top 4 players in the league as compared to 1 top player and an above average player in Semin.
I just realized right now. It's kinda humerous how Washington has two players that either had to change the pronunciation of their name (Alexander See-min to Se-mun) or their name completely (Semen Varlamov to Simeon), simply because of political correctness.

They make seem like they hav diff values... but when u add them up together... they both as deadly combos

The only problem with Varlamov is his lack of NHL-level experience. Right now the kid is playing on pure adrenaline and has only faced the low-scoring New York team. Can he handle the offensive talent of the Pens? On the other hand MAF has proven he can take a team to the Cup Finals. I have to pick Pens in 6 in this one, with goaltending being the difference.
I'd pick Crosby and Malkin. Simple reason - two of the big three. Semin is nowhere near the level of Ovi, Sid, or Geno.
Ovie over Malkin or Crosby... but definitely Malkin/Crosby over Ovie/Semin. Too tough to call the series winner though. I definitely wouldn't be putting money on either side, just too close!
And to spice things up, would you rather have Green or Gonchar? I'm a huge Mike Green fan, but I can see where people would think that Gonchar is more responsible defensively, as well as being similarly gifted offensively. Tough call!

True, but I'm sorry, I need to take Sykora off of that list. I traded for him mid-season in my fantasy pool, and he practically went into a coma in the second half of the season. If anything, Kunitz took his place.
For the sake of both teams abilities, I'm gonna hide my Caps bias and say they'll take it, but they'll need seven to do so. They're not gonna get around the defending Eastern Conf. Champs that easily.

Caps in 7. Varlamov stole the show today. that save on Crosby was SICK.... caps have got it together on the defensive end too.
I don't think that Fluery is as good as Lundqvist, or that the Pens defense is as good as the Rangers... because let's face it, the Rangers strength is obviously their defense/goaltending... This series is going to come down to offense, and i think that the Caps have the better offense.

I'd say Caps in 7 games.
And for the other question, I'd rather have Crosby and Malkin.
I'd be happy with either of those duos, and Semin and Ovechkin are a good duo, but Crosby has proven himself to be a better passer/playmaker than Ovechkin, and Malkin has nearly if not as much scoring power as Ovechkin.
I'm saying this as an Ovechkin fan, btw :P

Ne way personally I like Varlamov, one of the best young goalies I've seen. I tell ya Thedore might losin starting job next year, if Varlie keeps this up I mean two playoff shutouts in his rookie year, if thats not enough I don't no what is.

This is a series that either team could take in four or five games. As a Pens fan, I have to stand by my boys and believe they have the firepower to chase Varlamov out of the net, and the defense and backchecking to shut down the Caps' offensive stars.

Pens in 5. I say this because I watched game 7 of the washington newyork series and it took the capitals a long time to settle down and fid their groove...against the rangers who did not have the best series despite taking it to 7 games. Rangers goaltending kept them in the series that long but I feel that the pens dont have to rely as much on fleury because they will be able to attack more efficiently and keep washington on their heels.

In my Playoff Prediction video I said Caps in this one and its going to solely lie in the hands of Varlamov. He will be the dealbreaker. It think it goes to 7 games. And as Flyers fan, I should say that I would rather take Ovechkin and Semin over Crosby and Malkin, but its clear cut for me to go with 2 out of the top 4 players in the league as compared to 1 top player and an above average player in Semin.

I just realized right now. It's kinda humerous how Washington has two players that either had to change the pronunciation of their name (Alexander See-min to Se-mun) or their name completely (Semen Varlamov to Simeon), simply because of political correctness.
And as for Pittsburgh dealing with hostile environments. They didn't have beer poored on them and beer bottles thrown at their head, so I'd say they're still in for it.

They both have goaltending? Ahhhh, Steve, you do realize that the Rangers had 1 shot in the 3rd period of game 7 and that their offense was the 2nd worst in the East tied with Ottawa this season, right?
We'll see about Varlamov, but the Pens' offense is a lot better than the Rangers. So don't be surprised if Theodore comes back in the middle of this series because this kid has no experience and he was hardly tested against the Rangers.

Ovechkin over Crosby and Malkin easily. Ovechkin has an element of viciousness to his game that the pens 2 snipers severly lack.The pens are the more rounded team.Fleury isnt a great goalie. Not bad either. But nothing special in the past when it came to big games at every level. he always blows it and has this bad habit of scoring in his own net.He wont be an x factor in the pens success.Who will? Varlamov. I dont know if he or the can keep it together against the pens scorers.He does caps in 6

i would take crosby and malkin over ovechkin and semin because face it crosby and malkin can do well even if their not playing on the same line sid is producing very well with guerin and kunny and he is a much harder worker who goes for the puck unlike ovie who cant even play defensive and waits 4 the puck to come to him.

This is how i would look at Ovechkin, Semin, Crosby, Malkin in comparison to each other
Ovechkin = 10
Semin = 8
= 18
Crosby = 9
Malkin = 9
= 18
They make seem like they hav diff values... but when u add them up together... they both as deadly combos
The key is Varlamov and how well he plays... he will def hav to step it up a notch against a more deadly offensive team in Penguins... but im liking the team spirit of the capitals

I'd take Ovechkin and Semin any day, because first of all, Ovechkin is way more physical than Crosby/Malkin, and I think Semin has an incredible shot surpassing their's too.

The only problem with Varlamov is his lack of NHL-level experience. Right now the kid is playing on pure adrenaline and has only faced the low-scoring New York team. Can he handle the offensive talent of the Pens? On the other hand MAF has proven he can take a team to the Cup Finals. I have to pick Pens in 6 in this one, with goaltending being the difference.
I'd pick Crosby and Malkin. Simple reason - two of the big three. Semin is nowhere near the level of Ovi, Sid, or Geno.

Lundqvist is overrated IMO. Fleury is just as capable considering he has beaten him in the past.

The Rangers' problem was speed was not on their side and they didn't get enough pucks towards the rookie goaltender.
Crosby and Malkin for sure, and not just because I am a Pens fan, because they can both pass, score, and BACKCHECK.
But really the question is who WOULDN'T want any of those players on their team.
Pens in 6, Marc Andre Fleury knows exactly what he needs to do, and I think he will do it.

True, but I'm sorry, I need to take Sykora off of that list. I traded for him mid-season in my fantasy pool, and he practically went into a coma in the second half of the season. If anything, Kunitz took his place.
For the sake of both teams abilities, I'm gonna hide my Caps bias and say they'll take it, but they'll need seven to do so. They're not gonna get around the defending Eastern Conf. Champs that easily.
