Every American soldier that has been a casualty since August 1945 has been killed or wounded in vain. World War II was our last necessary war. All other wars since that date have been fought to enrich the military-industrial complex. We were called baby killers when we returned from Vietnam, and today the same kind of soldier is hailed as a hero. Truth is, all soldiers are heroes, but the are also victims of a government that is only interested in profit at the expense of its children.

I saw Ron Kovic years ago in Miami . I think it was at the democratic or republican convention. I was a very young idealistic woman who had gone to protest the war, and I was so impressed with him. Although he had been maimed, he was the most dynamic impassioned man I had ever seen. Of all the people who camped out at Flamingo Park, the Vietnam Vets had the most integrity. Thanks for continuing to keep your voice heard, Mr. Kovic.
