I know that this is an old video but I would direct you to the website Scoobysworkshop which gives advice on how to work out cheaply at home.
It gives begginer, intermediate and advanced routines as well as a pretty active forum. I don't buy in to the low fat diet bull as I don't believe it is healthy or natural but the other content I found incredably usefull.
Actually, this did encourage me, thanks. I'm spending some time looking up stuff about body building online today, and your experience seeing results in such a short time was encouraging.
Nice one, hope you're still working out. Can't believe the negative comments on here (PS Mustnotread, to call someone ugly and then go on to accuse them of 'buying into' the culture's beauty paradigm is as contradictory as it is hypocritical; those are contingent value judgments).
sad to see such an ugly fucker buying into the mainstream cultural ideal of "beauty and health". it's like putting a 3 legged horse in the Grand National - it can't win!
He's an honest intelligent person who is making goals for himself and trying to live a better healthier life. Nothing wrong with what he's doing and there is nothing sad here except more peoples willingness to hate on and insult someone they are jealous of
do you actually _believe_ that pumping 200lbs weights for 2 hours a day at a gym and running on a hamster wheel are HEALTHY and good for the human body? you think that level of intense gruelling abuse is good for the human body?
I don't know why I clicked on this, was watching your response to the Venus Project. Anyway, you don't want to be too defined and ripped. It isn't as healthy as having a bit of muscle mass with the right amount of fat. Fat is healthy for anyone, too much or too little is a bad thing though and everyones body is different.
People who tend to be ripped are either scrawny or they are trying way too hard and hurting themselves.
dont listen to these haters. keep up the good work and make small goals. loosing fat and gaining muscle is very hard, your going to see some quick gains as you mentioned, but soon that goes away and it becomes much harder. good luck!
If you want to lose weight, go on a starvation diet and do tons of cardio. Then start eating healthy with a low carb, low fat diet, maintain cardio and workout with high reps lower weight.
If you want to build up bulkiness and maintain lean muscle, which will probably be good considering your body type, eat healthy, high carbs for energy, low fatty foods, and lift heavier with more reps.
Keep it up bro. Guy said just a minute ago that diet is important. Can't be overstated. No matter who you are (and yes, some people will respond far better to training than others), at this stage the proper balance of protein and fast burning carbs will make all the difference. I suggest 40 grams of protein and 160 g of glucose, sucrose & fructose at about 2:1:1 within 15 minutes of ending a weight training session. Also, no fats for at least 3 hours after. No room here- message me for reasoning
Diet is going to be important also. Most bodybuilders go to 5 meal a day eating plan. You will need ample amounts of protein and good fats such as nuts, olive oil, coconut oil. Do some research and you will see what I mean. Keep it up you are doing a great job and looking good.
I can attest to what you are talking about. I've been exercising since my teens. Most of my smart friends seem to be allergic to exercise. It's good to see that you are still motivated by your progress. Exercise is a life long activity like brushing your teeth. Keep up the good work with your new lifestyle X.
I would recommend that you keep a training log of some sort, to track your progress. In that you could include such things as exercise, weight used and repetitions. You may also want to weigh yourself each week and take measurements at different points around the body waist, hips, biceps, quads etc..
tip* if your goal is to gain arm size don't neglect the triceps big peaks on the biceps are great but the triceps are the largest muscle in the arms.
well spiritual connection and body building are the same, you need to will yourself to go on,and will is power to gaining strength and knowlegde if you don't have will, you will never surpass
A couple of months ago I was working out (punching bag, running on treadmill while holding gallons of laundry detergent, other exercises) with one of my friends. But we're no longer friends and I've since stopped working out because I don't have anyone else to do it with so it won't be extremely boring.
I've heard that the best way to lose body fat by increasing metabolism and cardiovascular activity is by doing intervals of sprinting for about 15 seconds then walking for about a minute and a half. If you do that about 10 times three times a week you can increase your health and metabolism, which in turn helps to speed up fat burning.
I wouldn't really know for sure though, since I haven't disciplined myself enough to do it.
1. Have you been reading anything on the arthurjonesexercise website? Mentzer (an Oist) is great, but Jones came first and when it comes to exercise knew a lot more.
2. How often are you working out?
3. Do you do full-body routines or split routines?
4. How did your first HIT workout feel (I remember mine, it nearly killed me)?
5. How long are your workouts (both in terms of time and # of exercises)?
...your calorie burning by about 75-100 cals per day. There are 3500 cals in a lb of fat, so if you gain just 5 lbs of muscle (a decent gain, but nothing too extraordinary) you're already burning almost 1 lb of fat more than you otherwise would have per week (5 x 100 x 7 = 3500).
1. Well do whatever you have time for. Beyond just exercise, the guy had a fascinating life and there's some interesting stuff on that website just about that.
XOmniverse, congratulations, man. It's a great feeling seeing progress from working out. When you say high intensity routines, are you referring to HIT, the routine espoused by objectivist bodybuilder Mike Mentzer? If you're not familiar with him, you should look him up, as it's a nice tie-in to your channel.
One thing that really helps is to alternate between static lifting and dynamic lifting each workout session. Static is lifting very heavy weight (90-100 percent of your max) very slowly for one or two reps. Dynamic is lifting lighter weight (about 50 percent of your max) for a few reps VERY quickly, like blasting it up. My bench press goes up about 10 lbs a week when I do this routine.
Way to go man. Funny, I started my own regimen around the same time. My initial goal was to lose weight which I've seen some good results on; hope I can up the muscles ala you!
when you start to work out, you'll gain alot of muscle. But after a while, you'll come to the point where you'll have problems gaining them.
At that point it's important to not give up. You have to redisign and reshape your routines, experiment with different methods, eat better/more, etc etc etc. So remember that if lack of progress occur.
I'm not so much body-building as trying to get toned again after the Summer. I'm naturally slim but I put on weight around my stomach as easily as I lose it.
I started lifting about a year ago, and it's really suprising how fast you bulk up. It really isn't as dificult as you'd think, and the benefit is ten-fold. Way to go!
I picked my current apt in part because of the 24hr exercise room, but 3 months in I've only been in there once. This video feels (at least right now) like just the kick in the pants I need to get started. Thanks.

Keep up the good work buddy; don't let haters discourage you; and fuck supplements, that stuff is as bullshit as the concept of the state.
It takes a long time, so have patience. Do NOT judge your progress by your looks; 1. it can get discouraging; 2. it is not objective
Judge progress by measurable things such as the weight you re able to do. Your goal should be to do more weight than you did last week.
ALWAYS USE QUANTITATIVE MEASURES
For real good results you'll have to clean up your diet
