2nd generation... Chikorita was a Johto starter, not a Kanto starter.

chikorita is not an evolved pokemon, therefore it's stats isn't up to it's max potential. Besides shadow punch does quite a lot of damage

Most definitely. It was a decent team. I was just reacting to the fact that if they evolved those Chikoritas and gave everything appropriate items, it could go from being just a novelty to being a novelty that's also a threat.
