It's installed by default. In a terminal, type 'sudo apt-get install ccsm' to install the configuration manager.

Open from the top menu: System->Administration->Synapt­ic Package Manager, then control if in the List is selected ALL, then write in the Quick Search: "compiz", and Mark to Install with right click the: "compizconfig-settings-manager­" then press Apply button... After the installation Open, System->Preferences->CompizCon­fig Settings Manager, and then u'll select what u want.

Compiz is slow compared to Openbox. But compiz is Extreme fast as Hell compared to Windows Aero

You already have it installed, you just don't have the settings manager:

First, you need to make sure that you have your hardware drivers enabled (search "ubuntu hardware drivers" for more info). Then, go to Synaptic Package Manager and get:

compizconfig-settings-manager

emerald

Adjust things by going System->Preferences->CompizCon­fig Settings Manager. Emerald isn't necessary i guess, but it is what you'd use to make your themes awesome.

Would definitely use it as default!

Hope you can use mouse to select window when in alt-tab as well. I feel like it sort of conflicts/overlaps with the avant window navigator; would be cool to have this activated from a hot spot on the screen (like a corner or edge of a certain desktop/monitor).
