i've lived with husky types for almost 5 decades. They're wonderful, even when mixed with other breeds. My faves are husky/wolf, husky/shep, and aussie/husky. They mix well with coyotls too. Wrong fucktard! There were 6 Siberian Huskies and 2 Alaskan Malamutes. Do some research on a topic that you clearly know nothing about before you comment. That way you won't sound like a complete idiot.
My Siberian's idea of a morning walk is a 30 mile run on the ice. That's assuming it's 20 below zero. If it's warmer, not so far. I don't run her when it's colder than 40. She sleeps outside in her dog house, except when it's really cold. Then I let her sleep in the kunnichuk, where she has a bed. She's a terrible guard dog, and she likes to beat up on other dogs. But she's loving and so smart...I've never seen such a smart dog.
@TheTruePunjabi I live in SW england and have a Huskamute, a Husky Malamute cross. It runs around in warm weather and as long as it has access to water, either through a bottle/ container etc or a river to cool down in it seems to be fine. If it is really hot they could be exercised early morning/ late evening when it's cooler.
i never said you could tell by its color what kind of dog u have.DUMB ASS i wanted to know if the tan dog in the video was a mal or a siberian huskey .when i bought my huskey they told me it was a siberian huskey .. but my friend has a siberian huskey also ..and they dont look the same his dog is more skinny/diff build.. has a longer nose and is very hyper ... mine is bigger build and has a shorter nose /also very calm dog. and when i read up on malamutes it matches the discription.
@yorickm u can tell by the shape of the tail and the snout not by color if u try u will likely be wrong these are husky sled dogs and this movie made me ball like a baby ;((((((
@yorickm No, color won't determine whether or not it is a Husky or Maly. Maly's will never have blue eyes, Huskies usually do. Weight, facial/cranial structure, eye shape, intelligence, strength, speed and size are how you determine the two breeds. Basically, if it looks like a wolf-it's a Husky, if it looks more like a bear-it's a Malamute.
I think that would be the husky. But there is not a big difference between them.
I live at home with my husky, a cat, and a sheep.
At first the cat was scared shitless, but now they play together :D
I was a little scared what she would do with the sheep, but it turns out that the sheep is not afraid of my husky, and she has not made any attempt on attacking her (yet)
The Alaskan malamute works and lives with you, not for you. Sometimes aggressive toward other dogs, especially those of the same sex, the typical malamute is outrageously and almost universally friendly to humans. As the dogs of a peaceful, nomadic people, malamutes do not guard property and virtually always extend a tail-wagging, face-licking welcome to strangers. I love both breeds but from experience I've had more aggression with huskies toward smaller animals. It's all on the pup though.
i get the feeling that you're an expert in huskies and malamutes.. so my question for you is who's more friendly and warm to his master between the two??? (tnx in advance):D
Well, I'm not an expert, just an owner of a siberian husky. Before I took one I did a lot of research about the the huky etc. I need to know if I was able to proper care of a husky.
I have no experience what so ever with malamutes, but what I'v heard of owners who have both mals and huskies is that mals are a bit tougher to keep (they are more stubborn etc. than a husky
So my first choice to answer your question would be the husky, but I'm not an expert on it

Malamutes (Mals) are Alaskan - bred for strength, Huskies are Siberian - bred for speed; both bred for endurance. Mals are pretty big dog, with huge snowshoe paws. Mal's eyes are always brown. Mals weigh 85-125 pounds / 25-28 inches; huskies weigh 45-60 pounds / 21-21 inches. There is always confusion over these breeds, but physical traits clearly show they are differeny. Both are gorgeous and sweet natured. Mals love people so much they would let someone rob your house.
yorickm: I love Siber and Mallie vocalizations (Sibers seem to be more so)! I've owned several German Shepherds; the oversized, 30" at shoulder, over 130 LB kind that hailed from Germany/Czech. My neighbors have 2 Sibers, though, and I can't help but stare at them; they have azure eyes! Sibers will, as you said, let someone rob a house, just like Mallies -- or lick 'em to death! Neither dog guards well, but it's OK - nowadays bitten criminals file lawsuits and win! *rolls eyes in disgust*
Lovely post from a cracking film, thankyou! Check our "mini"-Shadow lookalike LuiLui uploads! Those Shadow mal's (they usee quite a few double's on set too didn't they) are magnificent, as all the sled dogs are.
Agreed. Malamutes are usually much larger than huskies. It is sometimes hard to tell if you are only looking at the face, but when you compare the bodies, it is very easy to differentiate. Huskies seem lean and have very sharp markings on their coats, whereas malamutes seem fluffy but actually it's all muscle. Markings are a bit dull on the coat of malamutes' body. Still, both are awesome breeds.
Very much so. The name "Husky" is used much more re sled dogs here in the UK, indeed, when a youngster says about our mal LuiLui "wooaahh look, a snowdog" and the parents reply smugly, "no, it's a HUSKY!" We love putting them right and stating the kids spot on! Both lovely dogs but we love mals' as errr, we have one, ha,ha! The other BIG difference to the eye is the BROADER skull of the mals, although some, like Luilui, are a tad thinner.
Siberian Huskies were, long ago, used by Indians as there working dogs, that's what the breed is created for.
So letting horses carry stuff is torture to ??
It's in their blood to pull sleds and stuff. Cleary you do not know what you're talking about. When I get the rope to connect the huskies to the sled they get very excited. They love to run and work.
My fam used to have a big 80 lb. Quebec Husky as well that was U.S. Army trained. It would do things that would blow your mind. Bottom line tho, having a Jack Russell Terrier and a Husky is the best thing ever. Neither of them ever became all that destructive, as I used to have a cat that put the fear of God into all of my dogs too lol. There's nothing like some authority to keep the two wild pups in line.
Yeah they do can be rough and wild sometimes but that is one thing I encouroge my dog with. I took a husky because of their highly energetic behavior. Some say dogs resemble their owners. I agree with that. I can't sit still for like 5 minutes. I have to move. That's why I fitness 3 times a week and work after school. And soon, I hope, will join the dutch airforce for some more action.
But offcourse I 2 like the way sib huskies look. So wolf-like, so wild, so like nature :D
I have two dogs, one's a Jack Russell, the other's an Alaskan Husky/Akita Mix. The Alaskan is ALL Husky, except for her highly territorial attitude, & wariness of strangers. The JRT trained her a lot, so I basically have a Husky half the time, & a 45 lb. Jack the rest of the time lol. The Husky loves the snow, & the colder it gets the happier she is. She can pull me all over the place when she walks with the JRT, because at that point she believes her and the Jack are the lead dogs on-line lol.
I have had 2 huskies in my life. I have my second, Saphie, now. She is a 18 month old parti-eyed sweetheart. After I watched 8 below, I had to go out to her yard and hug her for about half an hour. Your right, sillybeau, a pain in the butt, but worth it when you get home and see that look on their face. Their eyes can fix a screwed up day.
Ow cool :D.Yeah, I have one myself. 4,5 months old :). True, sometimes a pain in the ass but worth it in the end. The truly are amazing dogs and friends!
And you are right again, that look in here face can turn a bad day into a good one. Mine has those gourgeous blue/white ice eyes :D
Nice name. Is it a male/female ? This week they will be born. I'm so excited :D The chances are more then 75% that the pup will have blue eyes. Mother is all blue, father has one blue eye and a brown eye with a blue spot in it:P.
Beautiful dogs .. stunning presentation :D

No you dumb ass.. i am a proud owner of 2 husky and a malamute.
AND Yes. its true to a certain point that husky may have blue and brown eyes. But most its 70% blue for husky.
But MALAMUTE if it is a PURE BRED! its 100% will be BROWN. ITS 100%.. LET ME SAY IT AGAIN it WOULD BE 100% brown.
and its true that malamute is more muscular as their weight is up to 150 pounds whereas husky is from 60 - 80 pound.
I have 4 artic dogs, so Yeah i think i am pretty good at it. 1 of them is american eskim

It is possible, but every husky looks (and is) different !
It's wrong to just buy a husky for their looks. Many huskies end up bad because people don't know how to raise and keep a sibierian husky!
They require lots of attention, need to go out many times a day and are very stubborn.
So they are not for everyone ;-)

Mals weigh 85-125 pounds / 25-28 inches; huskies weigh 45-60 pounds / 21-21 inches. There is always confusion over these breeds, but physical traits clearly show they are differeny. Both are gorgeous and sweet natured. Mals love people so much they would let someone rob your house.

True,
But it's the same with a husky. They are too as sweet as candy. lol.
They truly are great dogs and friends.
I have a husky, and I love here so much. She turns every bad day into a good one.
Later in my life, there are definitly comming more huskies and maybe even mals.
You own any of these type of dogs ?

yorickm: I love Siber and Mallie vocalizations (Sibers seem to be more so)!

Thank you!
Yeah, malls are great to :D
I love snowdogs/huskies in generel, wether it's a malamute, sib. husky, samojeed or whatever. I love them.
There's something mystic about them, can't explain but I love it! I'll never have another breed than sib. huskies. Great friends :D

The other BIG difference to the eye is the BROADER skull of the mals, although some, like Luilui, are a tad thinner.
tyrant1505 2 years ago
Yes, on average, mal's skull is very wide compared to a lot of working breeds.

in every dog, you can see their life in their eyes.. and the first dog had a fucking torture life!!!
arisvakos 3 years ago
And why was his life torture :S ???
yorickm 3 years ago
because they force them to do things...
the siberian haskeys have a hard training...
from the day they open their eyes until they die..
arisvakos 3 years ago
Bullshit!
Go home hypocrit...
yorickm 3 years ago
it's just my opinion dude....
i know some things aboute dogs...
and i have seen a lot of docimanders...
they exited, yes....
but they are hard trained to do that as perfect as they can...
sorry if i am wrong...
arisvakos 3 years ago
Well,
I know some things to about dogs and I own them ;)
And yes, the huskies train for sledraces.
But hard training is something TOTALY different then torture (what you said in your first message!)
If you wanna achief a goal, most of the time you gotta work hard ;), works for everyting!
And working/training hard is not a bad thing!

GUMMYBEAYUH 3 years ago
Very nice!

She can pull me all over the place when she walks with the JRT, because at that point she believes her and the Jack are the lead dogs on-line lol.

we just got a husky/shepherd mix a month ago from a rescue and he is the most gorgeous thing you have ever seen
ringostarr37 3 years ago

Yeah, a husky can turn a bad day into a good one, just the way they look.
My husky turns here head sometimes so funny she puts a smile on my face :)
They really are fantastic dogs !

I used to have a Siberian husky. It's been nearly a year since she died and I still miss her soo much. D: And yeah, they can be a big pain. Lolz.
I'd like to try owning an Alaskan malamute sometime. My dad used to have one. He said they are awesome dogs. :]

Their eyes can fix a screwed up day.
smckey 3 years ago
Ow cool :D.Yeah, I have one myself. 4,5 months old :). True, sometimes a pain in the ass but worth it in the end. The truly are amazing dogs and friends!
And you are right again, that look in here face can turn a bad day into a good one. Mine has those gourgeous blue/white ice eyes :D
All the best with your husky ;-)

Nice name. Is it a male/female ? This week they will be born. I'm so excited :D The chances are more then 75% that the pup will have blue eyes. Mother is all blue, father has one blue eye and a brown eye with a blue spot in it:P.
Good luck with the dog!
