  • Im 37, and the songs from this era always make me stop and listen, what a time to be a teen. Love it.

  • Me encanta Nota 1.000

  • uooouuuuuu exellent

  • vivan los años 60´s

  • when I get married I will walk down the aisle to this song. Beautiful!

  • Badass beat i love this

  • this melody almost make me cry

  • Riiiiiitcheeeeeee

  • Wow 4 people really need to get a life.

  • Sounds like The Beatles stole this and made it into Free as a Bird.

  • I love it !

  • Dispite this melody was on top of the hit charts in the late '50s it is still such a heartwarmer...

I am inlove with this sweet melody... it's a feeling like having to have been inlove for the first time ... at least for '-)

  • The great Shadows covered this tune even the Ventures had a go at it and maybe even more artists too but none of them came close to this version. 10/10

  • santo and jonhy

  • a very haunted song

  • Quien es el autor principal de la cancion Ritchie Valens o Santo and Jhony...

  • Santo & Johnny

  • Gracias..por la respuesta..

  • R.I.P = Sceneunseen

  • I'll love this song till the day I die

  • thanks grandfather

  • another coolsong of this band or something like this?

  • Nick Trapasso Was Banging It With That Song ;D

  • something so haunting about this song ....love it,,,

  • it was great in sixetes too as a kid! this music was fun! love it!

  • are santo and jhonny dead just asking

  • The 50s aren't necessarily over. Do a search for "rockabilly" on youtube or google or whatever and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Greased up pomps, whitewall tires, raw echo-laden rock and roll, fishnet stockings... it is a movement, and a lifestyle. As long as there are still people that love the positive things about the 50's, it will never really die.

  • I love this kind of music , its such a shame music today is not the same as it was back then..

  • This song is like a direct portal back to the 50's.

  • when you hear that on La Bamba and "1964" of Heroes, it has an eerie quality to it. yet also nice.

  • I remember hearing this song when I was 6 years old! :-) Thanks for the memories!

  • Listened on the jupebox wurlitzer. in a teen resaraunt, while drinking cherry cokes god it was great in the fifties.

  • Que tal, ¿que programa utilizaste para hacer el video?

Por cierto genial canción una de mis favoritas.

  • Great picture of Santo and Johnny

  • i do not like 2 18

  • sem palavras pra comentar uma musica dessa , falar o que , simplemeste a melhor do milenio, do seculo , nao haverá nenhuma igual nao.

  • Gracias por la nota.

  • Not my Ritchie!!!

  • mMy teenage years, the fifity,s. cars had character ,brylcream for your hair fabulous music. no driveby shootings waitresess at A&W wore roller skated yes bio 12 you would have loved the fifties.

  • Man I wish I could have lived in the 50's... I honestly feel like I was born in the wrong generation :( Or maybe I did live during the 50's in another life

  • I could say the same.

  • me too beth.

  • There's a guy I know and his name is Marty Mc Fly, and sells some used Deloreans with low mileage. Give him a call, that might help. =)

  • wish i couldve lived in the 50s as a teen seems something so beautiful the cars the style not like todays generation where boys sag there pants ready to get ass raped :\

  • @biodisater12 Don't be ridiculous, sagging has nothing to do with being gay. And you need to be more open minded, I listen to all kinds of music. Boxers=sagged pants. Sagging does not mean your ass is hanging out, no one likes the guy with his ass out, but still, he isn't gay... be realistic.

  • You are welcome - spread the good word down in Argentina - everyone there appreciates a good steak and good music.

  • you can bet that!! but now this is a poor country and it's very expensive to have a good steak... but music, music is for free!!

  • thnx 4 posting this song

  • Wonderful song..What was the b-side?

  • I actually had to go look - its "All Night Diner" also by Santo and Johnny.

  • Hey, thanx for checking that for me..I used to play the b-side of this when I was a kid..it had a fast-paced tempo, but I just couldn't remember the name of it. Could you post "All Night Diner..that would be great! Peace.

  • thank you for posting this. . . . love it

  • Don't confuse nostalgia and your personal naivety for how things really were, jwsnell001. If you don't remember Khrushchev banging his shoe on a table in a Polish embassy, screaming to the ambassadors of the Western world about how the Soviet Union would bury them, the Korean War, the Cuban Missle Crisis, the Berlin Crisis, then you were either born in the 60's or you were in a coma through the entire Cold War.

  • Uhmm... I was refering to the 50's - pre Khrushchev. I agree things got less innocent a few years after Santo and Johnny recorded this in 1959. I spent time under my desk (which would protect you from a nuclear blast) during the Cuban Missle Crises in the 7th grade, and I remember it well.

  • Ah, my apologies for misunderstanding what you were trying to say. Yeah, I remember the good old days, when those seemingly flimsy school desks would protect us from the a-bomb. Must have been all of the lead in those pencils. Heh. (yes, I know that pencil 'lead' is actually a mix of graphite and bavarian clay. shhhhh.)

  • theres nothing like the original...

  • One of the immortals!

  • god damnit i hate this song. my ex made me listen to it for a week straight, then the fucker dumped me lol

  • This song makes my cry and want to die. Too depressing but extremely beautiful. A song I purposefully avoid unless in a dying or extreme sadness moment/time...

  • You should not be sad... this song is about a time that was really innocent and mostly happy. No Vietnam, Iraq - things were simple. Mostly worried about girls and enough money to buy a burger. The happiness bar was very low back then.

  • If that isn't the truth. I remember when it came out .

Could not beat those years, poor but such a good time.

Love to go back in time! David

  • so you existed then, right? cause you sure sound like it...

i'll paraphrase jon stewart: "the differnce between democrats and republicans are that one side is fighting for a utopian world that cant possibly exist, and the others fighting for a time and world that never actually existed."

    you, are the latter.

i guess times would of been easy if it wasnt for womans sufferage, joe mccarthy, and the racism/sexism/classism that was more or less everywhere in america at that time.

  • Nah... nothing more to me than being 11 years old when they played this in 1959. I had a little AM radio by my bed and listened every night until I would fall asleep. I am sure the world was completely fucked - but not my room and my house and my world - we had fish sticks, TV dinners and I pitched for the 7UP Little League Team in Austin TX, where a little blond girl I was in love with would watch me play and pass me notes the next day. My life could not have been better or more utopian.

  • i wasnt born till ten years later but i so know what u mean your comment made me smile . i think we all have times in our lives when we feel like this . oh and so love this music its from the film sleepwalkers isnt it xx

  • Ditto, but I was in San Antonio

  • And I moved to SA at the end of the 6th grade and am still here - 45 years later.

  • Good Times Man

  • they were... damn straight

  • Wow, what great memories. Thanks for sharing them. You are very blessed to have times like that to look back on.

  • Depends on your point of view. As for Jon, both sides of his equation are wrong. Last paragraph...the same exists today, some in a different form.

  • MJ!!!!!!!!!

  • this is actually richie valens..love this song

  • its not ritchie valens its by santo and johnny

  • Santo ft johnny - Sleep Walker 1959

  • Richie Valens did perform this song, but it is originally by Santo and Johnny.

  • this song makes me feel like im in a weird ass dream

  • that is such a cool record player. Love the song too - thanks!

  • My pal Shan Dixon restored it. I bought it on eBay and he is the king of restorations.

  • I Like This Song, too!

    I will Sleepwalk no more

    Sleepwalk

    Every night I just Sleepwalk

And when you walk inside the door

    I will Sleepwalk no more

    I will Sleepwalk no more

    I will Sleepwalk no more

  • oh shitt

  • Sleeptalk Cause I miss you While the memory of you Lingers like a song Darling, I was so wrong But I'll be right some day The night fills my lonely place I see your face I know, I miss you so I still love you And it drives me insane
  • Instead of dreaming

    I Sleepwalk

    Cause I lost you

And now what am I to do

    What to do.

    Can't believe that we're through

I don't care how much you tell me

  • this tune was originally wrote with lyrics but was never recorded with any because it felt that the lyrics took away from feel of the tune.

  • watch la bamba

    very sad ending

  • I was born in the 90s, and this video makes me feel nostalgic for a time I didn't even exist in. Very interesting... This is a great video all around. What a cool 45 player too!

  • Cool record player and great song. Ohh yeah why does everything have to turn into a racial issue. Lots of artists change there name to sound more edgy or apealing. Not everyone hears a song or a name of a group and thinks about race.

  • He's just stating a fact... that's what happened... they made him change it because it was a Latin name.

  • Yeah, people need to leave the racial stuff alone!!!! Lifes to short & there's other things to worry about. The bottom line is this is good music & that's all that matters.

  • excellent comment!!!

  • Thank you & oldies forever =]

  • wasnt this from richie valens

  • Richie did an awesome version of Sleepwalk as well, played on a Stratocacaster. This version is by Santo and Johnny and played on a Fender steel guitar. They also wrote it.

  • At least the music was better in the 1950s.

  • I agree

  • one of the greatest tracks of all time period!!!!

  • the fifties looked like it was a hard time to be a teen... it seams like if you weren't in good shape, good looking, and dressed like everyone else, then you were shit.

    great song BTW.

  • just like these days.....

  • Actually, nobody cared about fitness. Malboros and Winstons were cool. You could see any car on the highway and instantly identify the brand, year and model. There were only about 25 hit music artist instead of 2500. Life was easy then, even for me as a 10 year old.

  • Actually, I beg to differ. Being a teen in this era was probably less complicated and more fulfilling than it was in my era (2000)

  • yea..... if you were white.Richie Valens isnt even his real name the label made him change it because his real name was latin name

  • Yes this Santo & Johnny song played at end of movie where they going to grave yard. Ritchie's birth name was

    Richard Steven Valenzuela.

    Died at seventeen. Very Sad

  • I knew that about Riitchie

  • stephen king's sleepwalkers. nuff sed, sed ded hed fred.

  • ive been looking for this song for a while. it has been in a bunch of movies. charlies angels, sleepwalker, the locusts etc. def 1 of my jams

  • You should check out Modest Mouse's cover of this song. It's different, but still pretty good.

  • man i used to make love to my girl with this song , it was just amazing

  • I must be tired. Meant to give you thumbs up. Sorry.

  • The sound is amazing. Can anyone dislike this masterpiece, I mean really. So much feeling in one song.

  • How many songs like this can you hear over and over and never get sick of? Its because this song MEANS something and talks without words.

  • heard it on heroes and i love it reminds me of hawaii <3

  • Makes me think of how beutiful the old days were, "music is life" ,thnk you for having excellent taste !!!!

  • Unless you were alive in these times you will never realize how special it was. Even as a young kid in 1958 I knew life could never be better.

  • And you were right - at least for middle-class, white Americans! The US dollar was the strongest ever in 1957, in terms of its buying power, and it's all been downhill since then.

  • RICHIE! NOT MY RICHIE!!!

  • beautiful record, i have pretty much the same 45 player.

awesome sound for a 45 too

Loved the vid and the song

    Thx for postin!

  • They must have made quite a few of these. Nice, because used parts seem to be available. The thing I have found is a lot of 45's that are available were from juke boxes and even though they look new they are worn out. THX for the comments.

  • Fantastic! There is no sound like the real thing... an RCA 45 player. Kudos to all!

  • Hello Whit, your video turned out fantastic ! I'm glad your happy with my restoration work. Sleep Walk is one of my favorite 45's it's one of those songs that you can play over & over again & not get tired of it. Let the records spin & the memories begin. Your friend. Shawn

  • Shawn, you spent some 30 hours on this restoration and it so evident in the quality of the sound and mechanics. You are the KING of 45 RPM player restoration.
