A person walking in to this lecture would have understood that under your account, Iranians want social freedom, economic freedom, equality and justice, but they still do not want change. I don't know if you couldn't find the words but you have legitimized the Islamic regime and the Ahmadinejad administration and as a widely popular one at that still.

Or, in another city Ahmadinejad received more votes than eligible voters in the city. Finally, why are you confusing an audience already confused enough about our complex culture and history? Iranians do not want this regime, are worn out by revolution and war, true, but this does not mean thst by seeking "channels" of reform within the system, that this means that they still have faith in it.

Btw, Mr. Bahari, the "silent majority" as you put it DO hate the Islamic regime, They are silent because they were SILENCED by fear of torture, murder, and execution. Also, if you are unsure if there was fraud in the election, check the vote count (available online) where Mohsen Rezaie (one of the candidates) received less votes than Ahmadinejad in his hometown.

What you are insinuating to the audience is that the movement is headed by a minority of people, which the IRI also calls a minority. It is stunning to me how much you have changed your tone. I would understand if you reached a settlement with the Islamic Republic for compensation, in return for toning down your criticisms. But nonetheless, if it is true, it would be a betrayal. I hope that is not true.
