don't buy it, I repeat don't buy it!! this tablet is a piece of shit, I know case I have one, it's slow, the camera is horrible and you can be doing something on the tablet for example you have 3 windows open for and important reason and the piece of shit will either exit onto your home screen or reboot. i thought it was just mines acting like that but my grandmother has one and it does the same exact thing. take my advice don't buy this!!!!

@CITUTS this one is nicer. they both have the same resolution, they are relatively responsive, they are fast, alot lighter, you dont have to worry about scratching up the back, they are more customizable. the ipad also doesnt have a sd card slot, or micro hdmi slot. this is alot nicer than an ipad in my opinion.

@MobileTechReview Thanks! So basically if you wanted to pull up maps where you don't have wifi you would need to tether it to a 3G smartphone? if so, it's kind of pointless to have a built in GPS if you need to tether it to a smartphone(which likely has its own gps)...or am i missing something?

@aspiringhealers You can pre-load maps before you leave your WiFi connection. If you map out your routes in advance, you don't need to connect to use the map or directions. Only when you need real time navigation where your maps follow you, then you need a connection.

@GePuRdiZe Vizio's mandatory update got rid of rooting and we have to wait for a new root. If you don't update, you won't be able to play with the tablet at all.

We reviewed the Vizio Tablet back in August and generally liked the 8-inch size and the unique hardware features, including an integrated IR blaster and three speakers for proper stereo sound in both landscape and portrait orientations. Its customized VIA Plus interface completely disguises the Android underneath, but looks pleasing and is intuitive. However, performance benchmarks were a bummer and the interface was noticeably sluggish at times.

Best review of this tablet. Walmart had one in one of their stores for $198. I consider it a great buy and this review sealed my decision for buying a budget tablet. I haven't been disappointed, and the review was spot on.

@fozzyengine1 So far so good. Can't comment about Skype since I don't use it, but I understand that you can download the app off Android Marketplace. Netflix works great. For what I paid, this was a great buy considering it was over $300 just a few months ago, is now less than the Nook Tablet or Kindle Fire and has more features than those tablets. The remote works great with my Vizio TV as well.

@fozzyengine1 Sorry haven't had a chance to plug an SD card in yet. I do understand that there may be some issues moving some things to the card. I haven't had an issue with battery power yet. I understand that it gets up to 10 hours life, which is more than I need. Hey, you can always buy it, try it and take it back if it doesn't meet your needs. No major drawbacks yet. Sure, it's no Ipad, but for the price that it's at now, I think it's worth it.

@spikeman316 but the G2 has a capacitive, the original Arnova 10 was resistive and had a garbage proc. but the Arnova 10 G2 is updated and is exactly the same as the LePan TC970, capacitive, Cortex A8 lol I might get the Arnova because it looks better

I got one about 2 weeks ago and use it constantly.  It's not perfect. External memory card can hold music and videos but not apps unless Vizio sends out an update to change the memory model. For the price, it's great.

Thank you for one of the only unbiased and thorough review of this product on youtube!!!! I finally picked one up based on your review and have not been disappointed. Its a great tablet, especially after the recent price drop. The fire will be nice but you will be signing a deal with the devil, in that case Amazon. If you want all your content from Amazon that may be ok, but I don't like that. Its gonna be worse than Apple. For the money, this tablet is real nice and works great!

Amazon Fire is the closest competitor. Fire has twice the memory and a dual-core, faster processor. But Fire has no card slot. So you're stuck with Amazon and WiFi to access your content. If you're going to play Sudoku, read eBooks and do internet browsing, the Vizio is probably ok. And you could put quite a few videos on it with a 32gb card in it.
