I have a question... what happens if while in a rally one of the player hits the balls so hard that it directly hits the back wall, then bounces and hits the front wall.. can the other player still hit the ball as the ball has bounced only once?
@possible894 Yes. The ball is still considered to be in play until it bounces twice. Even it that means it hits the front wall again before that second bounce.
I thought this was going to be a video about how much racquetball rules. I was sorely disappointed when all it showed me were the rules of racquetball.
lol we watched your vid, we did not understand what you where on about, so we just played 2 on 2 "wacked each other with the ball as hard as you can racquetball" and we all came out with battle damage, we all stopped when my friend got a black eye. then we all went swimming, thank you for the memory expertvillage.
hay! i like your video, but my friend needs it for a class progect. if you could make it embedable, that would be nice. thanks again for the video! it helped me alot
Question in serving in doubles? If the server serves the ball and his doubles partner starts to exit the neutral service area (he has stepped out with one foot but the other foot is still in the service box) and the served ball hits the partner stepping out of the box is it "side out" or 2nd serve. I believe it is side out.. Can't find this answer in any rule book. Thanks.. Excellent site by the way.
This has been puzzling me a little while now. So what happend when during a rally one hits the ball to the front wall pretty high and with a decent level of power, it flies to the back wall directly, comes off and hits the floor, and has so much momentum it hits BACK to the front wall without the other player hitting it? Is it still in play because the ball didnt hit the floor twice? Or is the rally over since the player didnt hit it before it hit the front wall again. ive heard both from people
The point is over if the opponent fails to hit the ball coming off the back wall even if the ball makes it back to the front ball with a single bounce. This is a frequent occurance with novice/average players.
As far as I know the rule is not broken, but this friend went crazy and said that my serve was at fault and I can't do that anymore. So I am asking you, the experience or the pro, to tell me whether my overhand serve with a bounce is not good anymore. Your comments are well appreciated.
Doesn't matter how high your bounce goes - then you can then hit it however you like as long as it results in a valid service... but I would suggest that a more conventional service technique will probably result in more controlled and consistent serves (and less argument) in the long run.
Thank you for your reply, Giraffalo. Needless to say my overhand serve, I have flexibility and ultimate control to any where in the court. I like the conventional but the form is too rigid and usually like to mix my forms--form conventional to overhand and back. Your input is well appreciated.
Shut your hole and stop wasting bandwidth, npr. Tennis serving mechanics is not easy thing to master that's why many pros players don't use that serve. Why show you, tell me why they don't.
I am a being player on Okinawa, Japan. I play against some outstanding players who compete on island and back in the states. They use the over hand sever very well. I have not tried to use it yet because I am getting the basics down. If you have the control and command of the serve, use it. Whoever has to return the serve just has to step up their game o get to it.
I checked the video and read the basic rules, which states that the server must bounce the ball once then hit the ball. However, the rules don't mention the ball's height off the ground nor it says the form in which the server is allowed to serve the ball. So I thought the only way to use my overhand serve is to bounce the ball about 78 inches off the ground, and then use my old tennis mechanics to hit the ball.
I need an advice from an experienced or pro player. I am a regular player with some tennis experience. Also, I have this powerful serve like in tennis (overhand) which is unchallengeable in racquetball, but the overhand serve doesn't allow me to bounce the ball on the ground. So the story starts here with a friend who googled the basic rules and passed them to me with this video to learn, but I have served overhand--without bouncing the ball--for over a year until now.
You do bounce the ball first (which throws your opponent right there if he hasn't seen it) high enough to hit it in the overhand position. The effectiveness of this serve comes from it looking so much slower than it is. To return this one, you need to be moving forward and let the ball catch up to you off the back wall. Then kill or pinch it since you're probably in front of your opponent. By the way, it is against the rules to not bounce the ball first on the serve.
ok so anyone know if u HAVE to let it bounce once before u hit it or can u just hit it straight off the front wall? not talking bout the serve just regular play
You neglected to mention side wall touches on the serve before the front wall as a side out and a skip on the serve as a side out also...Three wall serves are faults and ceilings are faults ( if these are done on the second serve they are side outs....Thanks for the video...good stuff...just wanted to add for more info
I still don't get it! T_T I've read so many rules... I think I need a straight up demonstration, because none of this makes sense in explanation form.
it really helps to watch people playing it live, and then to play with someone who knows how to play, it can be really fun once you start to get it, but it does take practice like everything else.
@Misty5472 Yeah that ball can make a fool of you if you dont know what you're doing. My fiance and I just hit the ball around and don't really play. This is a good video by the way. very informative.
