I bumped into your videos by accident, but I love them. You are a very concise and clear writer. I happen to be a Christian goy in love with Jewish things. I seek knowledge about all things Jewish because I love the roots of my faith. Keep them coming.
@runnerman550 No, the prohibition from the Torah that you're referring to is for a man to "spill seed," so that dictates the type of contraception that's permitted, but otherwise, in certain specific instances which I mentioned in the video (an authority on Jewish law must be consulted first) birth control is not considered a sin.
I really enjoy your videos, Im not a jew and have no desire to convert but I find your videos so interesting/entertaining .... Keep up the Good Work!! God Bless
I say this with the utmost respect for your holy work. Zera l'vatala is one of the most severe aveiras. (Nidda 13) Does not "birth control" encourage it?
@lk890000 I didn't make this stuff up! The Talmud talks about when birth control is permitted. Different rabbis disagree as to how lenient or stringent you can be with this concept, but they ALL agree that it is SOME times appropriate.
I love your videos. I was wondering if you do all the writing yourself. I've found that the way that you explain the halacha and minchagim is very clear. I've often directed non-Jewish and non-Orthodox friends to your videos.
Also, I see from your twitter that you've had another boy. Mazal tov. My tweets are locked, so I can't offer my congrats. there. Much nachas.
"I love you mommy" or in my house "love you mama" makes cry everytime. So you made me cry, but I'm ok with that! As a Christian I am asked this question often too. I think that when it comes to religion, people outside that religion want black or white answers. I tell people that if all questions regarding religion could be answered yes or no, there wouldn't be such a variety of religions in the world. LOL
Well, I used to live in Lakewood NJ and most or almost all the jewish families there have 7 or more than 7 children. I met two or three families that had around 13 - 14 kids and counting. Is this because NJ is a better place to rise children so they decide to have more children here rather than in NY? or is the same everywhere?
@leilarojas it's because, as I said in the video, rabbis from different communities have different opinions about how frequently birth control should be used. the majority of rabbis in lakewood are in the more right wing/strict end of the spectrum.
@jewinthecity oh I can def, vouch for the amazing number of kids per family....freehold mall, on a sunday is fun to watch all the families and their well behaved kids.
@leilarojas Hey there. Not sure where you get your information about Lakewood. Maybe just your block happened to have that many kids? I know plenty of people in Lakewood, whose children number from one (yes, one adorable 4-year-old girl) to eight, maybe nine (and I'm sure there are people with more). Most of the people I happen to know there have, on average, four kids. I think you may have been exposed to a very small variety of people there.
I totally respect your choice regarding your religion.
However, I just don't understand religions at all. And why do women buy into them? All of them require some handicap towards women. We have to: cover our hair, cover our bodies or do extreme measures to satisfy something that "man" made up.
Women are blamed for everything in most of the religions!!! Forget about it! I decide.
Women are beautiful and I love being a women, except for the double standards. And the discounted pay.
@SkreetGil I can't speak about "religions" in general, only Judaism, but to be a Jewish woman is a wonderful thing. In Judaism, while women have a greater obligation to cover their bodies, men have a greater obligation to keep their eyes from wandering to other women's bodies! Also, in the Jewish marriage contract that has been around for thousands of years, a husband is obligated to fulfill his wife's "needs" and if he doesn't it's grounds for divorce! In Judaism Adam and Eve share the blame.
@SkreetGil What if there really is a G-d who has power over our eternal destinies, don`t you think it is a bit risky to deny Him? Personally I believe in G-d & don`t feel handicapped at all. I think being a woman is a wonderful thing. I also think blame is not 1 sided. Everyone in the Bible gets blame when they do wrong regardless of gender. I can`t speak for all religions but in the Bible women are told to dress modestly but they don`t have to cover from head to toe. Jewinthecity is modern.
finally, another video! I thought you had disappeared! I always adore your videos because they're so informative and have cleared up so many misconceptions for me about orthodoxy to the point of where I'm considering on identifying with that movement when I get older and have a better knowledge of my faith.

@jewinthecity Isn't it a sin for a man to have sex without the intention of having kids, such as by using birth control?
